Sofia Billett reviewed: Tapestry weaving workshop for beginners

"Jane is a wonderful enthusiastic teacher and makes you feels very welcome in her fabulous studio. She provides everything you need from materials, to encouragement, to lovely food (with the help of her charming husband Graham). The pace of the workshop is very good and I was able to learn so much. You can also leave with a finished piece which gives you a great sense of achievement. Time runs fast and before you know it, it is time to go home...highly recommend it!"

Ray and Alison Canham reviewed: Make silver jewellery using precious metal clay or silver clay

"We weren't sure what to expect when we booked to make our own wedding rings but the day was wonderful. Toni's an engaging, patient and informative tutor. She explained every step and made sure we were able to practice as much as we liked until we felt competent to use the silver clay. The whole process is simpler than we expected and we were able to enjoy every step, which has made the rings even more special. Toni kept the rings for us and made sure they were highly polished ready for our big day. We've had loads of compliments on the rings including from a complete stranger while we were on honeymoon who spotted Alison's and asked about it. Highly recommended."

Carol Burmeister reviewed: Basic throwing with Jon French

"I have just taken my pots home and put them in my art/pottery room and low and behold they are much bigger than the others I have made. Therefore my objective on going on the course has been achieved. Let's hope I maintain the new quality and size. During the course I realised I had been throwing incorrectly and corrected this during the course really quickly. I had also misunderstood a few basic principles and came home more knowledgeable about throwing and how process-driven pot making is. I enjoyed the relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Being a retired primary school teacher I knew that Kevin really enjoyed his work (both teaching and potting), and conveyed that to his students. This can be inspirational and if done really well, out of the hundreds Kevin teaches, will produce future gifted teachers and potters."

Peter Hibbit reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"I attended the single day course and had a great time. It was great to be in a working blacksmiths rather than in a classroom like environment, so I was able to see other work going on around us. I made 5 things in the single day. During lunch I was able to wander around the wood and look at the art work. A great day!"

Darren Wilbraham reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"I returned for the advanced course with Adrian as I had enjoyed the beginners course so much. This day was just as great and I was able to choose an item to make which feels like such an achievement. The cooking by Debbie was yummy yet again! I must say as well how much value for money you get on this course when you consider all the materials and food provided it's a very small price to pay for expert tuition! Thanks again."

Michael reviewed: Introduction to Spoon Carving

"I had my first spoon carving experience with Chris in August, and I have to say that it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Chris obviously knows his stuff when it comes to working with wood, and he shows a great passion and enthusiasm while he's teaching. He'll explain and show you all of the various chopping and carving techniques that you'll need to know, while letting you work at your own pace until you get the hang of things. If you've never done anything like this before I would highly recommend it."

jim PALMER reviewed: Photography Days

"Having been overwhelmed by the apparent complexity of some of the settings on my digital SLR I had developed the habit of taking refuge in the "intelligent auto" setting. However, after an excellent day with Richard and Sue I now have the background knowledge and the courage to experiment. Photography suddenly looks a lot more fun. The tuition was patient and thorough and was thoughtfully divided between a morning on the shores of Ullswater and an afternoon in the studio looking at macro work. Technophobe or geek, there is plenty in this day for all. Make a booking or put the day on your Christmas list."
