Me and my friend went for one day course. Had a great time exceeded my expectations. Julian was really good at guiding us through the process and providing help where needed. Me and my friend both loved it and would reccommend it to anyone interested in blacksmithing.
I had a great day on the one day blacksmithing course, if you're considering giving this course a go I really recommend it.
Julian is a friendly and highly knowledgeable teacher and his workshop is a treasure trove of tools. You'll get to learn about some of his amazing commissions and make a piece of your own using different techniques and skills.
I am so happy with my final piece, a candle holder, and felt like Julian really pushed me to make the best piece I could and make the most of my time in the workshop. You will get a lot out of this course and I have learnt a new skill that I intend to take forward and build on.
Me and my brother had already had a quick go at back garden blacksmithing and wanted to expand our knowledge of the craft.
This course was fantastic, Julian helped us understand what we were doing at home and how it all worked, helped us improve our skills and master some new ones and generally went above and beyond everything we expected from the course.
Would highly recommend this course to anybody who enjoys or is interested in the craft, or anybody that just likes being creative.
I just attended the one day blacksmithing course and it was absolutely fantastic. Julian is a very friendly and laid back person, an incredible teacher and an extremely talented blacksmith. I felt immediately welcome and had lots of very good conversation and tea.
Julian taught me to make a toasting fork and it was one of the most enjoyable lessons that I have ever had. Absolutely fantastic day and a brilliant introduction to blacksmithing. I will definitely be going back for another as soon as I can!
What a brilliant day! This was a sixteenth birthday gift for our son and he loved it. Julian is an excellent teacher and easy company. Our son made a toasting fork, which we have already used and a garden hook to a surprisingly good standard. It is definitely worth paying a little bit extra for one to one tuition.
Just spent a fantastic weekend on a two day blacksmith course with Julian Wadsworth in his forge, full of facinating old equipment and machinery, both operational and some not yet restored.
I immediately felt welcome and at home with Julian's friendly, gentle manner and regular mugs of proper tea (loose leaves, teapots, strainers and everything. Brilliant!)
An incredibly talented craftsman with an equally impressive ability to pass on his knowledge, in the two days we covered a wide range of techniques with loads of hands on forging resulting in a really cool toasting fork, a candle holder and a very fancy poker, all now sitting in my hearth.
This excellent and thoroughly enjoyable course gives a real taste of this ancient craft. Many thanks Julian.
I have just completed a very enjoyable two day course with Julian. Over the two days I made a really nice poker & a bracket for a hanging basket that looks very arts & crafts . My family are very impressed and I cannot believe that I made something so amazing. Julian is a very talented Blacksmith and I could only describe him as the Rick Stien of the Blacksmith world (not that old though). He is an excellent teacher, good company & very patient. I would highly recommend him if you would like to try a Blacksmith course.
Spent a very enjoyable day with Julian at the weekend - learning a range of basic blacksmithing skills to come away with a very impressive looking toasting fork - so good in fact, that some people doubt I made it! I'd never done anything like this before, but Julian is a very good and patient teacher. He's also good company, and makes plenty of cups of tea during the day to keep you going. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone thinking of giving blacksmithing a try. It's amazing what you can do in a day.
We spent Saturday with Julian making a poker, toasting fork and fire brush between the two of us. We really enjoyed the day, it was extremely hands on, and the pieces we made are very professional looking and look great by the side of our fire.
I'd definitely recommend this course and may go back for another session, when my "bashing" arm has recovered!
