I had one of the best days for a long time working with Julian. I haven't done much metal work since school days 40 odd years ago, but I've always had an urge to revisit it. In my view Julian is a great teacher with the right balance of explanation, teaching by example and letting you get hands on. We discussed a project in the morning, over mugs of tea, that would be challenging but achievable in the day. Julian's mix of technical experience and artistic flair with a real practical and down to earth approach was wonderful and led, not only to achieving something I'm proud of, but to a great days conversation and something I'll remember for a long time. A thoroughly engrossing day, that I'll be keen to follow up on! Many thanks for welcoming me into your workshop Julian!
Me and my husband did the mig welding course with Julian and had such a great day we booked the blacksmith course straight away. Julian is a great teacher he is encouraging and helpful and really knows his stuff. We produced some fantastic pieces we are really proud of, we cannot recommend any course with Julian highly enough.
Absolutely incredible and fascinating day with Julian. A thoroughly passionate and friendly guy who couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming to both my wife and I. We went away with a beautiful piece of functional art. Julian was brilliant and really helped us bring out our best and walk away with something to be proud of. Couldn't recommend this course and Julian enough.
I can thoroughly recommend Julian's courses. Had the one day blacksmith course and learnt an invaluable amount of information and technique, which has urged me to consider blacksmithing as a long term hobby.
It is evident Julian has a tremendous amount of knowledge, skill and patience, and is also a perfectionist who likes to see things through to completion.
Thanks Julian, thoroughly enjoyed today.
The best teachers are knowledgable and passionate about thier subject. Julian is both and it shows. I chose an ambitious forge (coal tongs) but my slow progess was accommodated. And the end product i am very proud of. I hope to be back for a poker!
Just got home from a great day with Julian! We ‘forged’ (sorry) a great working relationship and I had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day.
Never done black-smithery before and Julian was very patient resulting in me leaving with a most impressive toasting fork that I can honestly say that I produced myself! I wholeheartedly recommend this course ... he makes a cracking brew too!!
My husband bought me a blacksmithing course for our 6th wedding anniversary (iron) and it was fabulous. We both loved it. Julian is a very knowledgeable and passionate chap and this is forged into each piece of work. My husband and I would utterly recommend the course, it is dirty work, physically tiring but very much rewarding. My husband is disabled and Julian accommodated this with ease. Fabulous day.
Me and my friend went for one day course. Had a great time exceeded my expectations. Julian was really good at guiding us through the process and providing help where needed. Me and my friend both loved it and would reccommend it to anyone interested in blacksmithing.
I had a great day on the one day blacksmithing course, if you're considering giving this course a go I really recommend it.
Julian is a friendly and highly knowledgeable teacher and his workshop is a treasure trove of tools. You'll get to learn about some of his amazing commissions and make a piece of your own using different techniques and skills.
I am so happy with my final piece, a candle holder, and felt like Julian really pushed me to make the best piece I could and make the most of my time in the workshop. You will get a lot out of this course and I have learnt a new skill that I intend to take forward and build on.
Me and my brother had already had a quick go at back garden blacksmithing and wanted to expand our knowledge of the craft.
This course was fantastic, Julian helped us understand what we were doing at home and how it all worked, helped us improve our skills and master some new ones and generally went above and beyond everything we expected from the course.
Would highly recommend this course to anybody who enjoys or is interested in the craft, or anybody that just likes being creative.
I just attended the one day blacksmithing course and it was absolutely fantastic. Julian is a very friendly and laid back person, an incredible teacher and an extremely talented blacksmith. I felt immediately welcome and had lots of very good conversation and tea.
Julian taught me to make a toasting fork and it was one of the most enjoyable lessons that I have ever had. Absolutely fantastic day and a brilliant introduction to blacksmithing. I will definitely be going back for another as soon as I can!
A really enjoyable weekend with Julian.more excellent tuition.I can easily recommend him if you want to try blacksmithing.can't wait for next time.
What a brilliant day! This was a sixteenth birthday gift for our son and he loved it. Julian is an excellent teacher and easy company. Our son made a toasting fork, which we have already used and a garden hook to a surprisingly good standard. It is definitely worth paying a little bit extra for one to one tuition.
Had a very enjoyable day.Julian really knows his stuff.cant wait to do the two day session.I can easily recommend him if you want to give blacksmithing a go.thanks for a great day julian.
Just spent a fantastic weekend on a two day blacksmith course with Julian Wadsworth in his forge, full of facinating old equipment and machinery, both operational and some not yet restored.
I immediately felt welcome and at home with Julian's friendly, gentle manner and regular mugs of proper tea (loose leaves, teapots, strainers and everything. Brilliant!)
An incredibly talented craftsman with an equally impressive ability to pass on his knowledge, in the two days we covered a wide range of techniques with loads of hands on forging resulting in a really cool toasting fork, a candle holder and a very fancy poker, all now sitting in my hearth.
This excellent and thoroughly enjoyable course gives a real taste of this ancient craft. Many thanks Julian.
Had an excellent day at the beginning of August blacksmithing with Julian where I made a toasting fork and hanging bracket. We hit it off as we had a several common interests.
I have just completed a very enjoyable two day course with Julian. Over the two days I made a really nice poker & a bracket for a hanging basket that looks very arts & crafts . My family are very impressed and I cannot believe that I made something so amazing. Julian is a very talented Blacksmith and I could only describe him as the Rick Stien of the Blacksmith world (not that old though). He is an excellent teacher, good company & very patient. I would highly recommend him if you would like to try a Blacksmith course.
Spent a very enjoyable day with Julian at the weekend - learning a range of basic blacksmithing skills to come away with a very impressive looking toasting fork - so good in fact, that some people doubt I made it! I'd never done anything like this before, but Julian is a very good and patient teacher. He's also good company, and makes plenty of cups of tea during the day to keep you going. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone thinking of giving blacksmithing a try. It's amazing what you can do in a day.
We spent Saturday with Julian making a poker, toasting fork and fire brush between the two of us. We really enjoyed the day, it was extremely hands on, and the pieces we made are very professional looking and look great by the side of our fire.
I'd definitely recommend this course and may go back for another session, when my "bashing" arm has recovered!
