Andy Daniels reviewed: Whittling course

"Really enjoyed the course I found it interesting and enjoyable from start to finish. Martins relaxed and welcoming attitude sets you at ease from the moment you arrive. After going over the basics you are soon engrossed in whittling your own little project and the time flies by. Martin explains everything in detail and is happy to go over anything you can't quite get the hang off, which in my case was much appreciated. With only four people on the course it all adds up to a relaxed and friendly atmosphere."

Tracey reviewed: Whittling course

"I booked this day course well in advance as it is understandably very popular. Martins friendly yet professional approach was perfect. The small class size meant you had his full attention. All the relevant skills and safety aspects are explained and then each stage put into practice I felt confident to continue in this very pleasant hobby or pastime on my own. The location is charming lunch very tasty in a lovely relaxed atmosphere Highly recommend. Thanks Martin"

Jan Whitehouse reviewed: Fabulous felt picture 2 day masterclass near York

"I really enjoyed the weekend. I learnt so much from Bridget and found her to be a very good teacher. We were a small, friendly group of people who took pleasure in seeing each other's individual pictures develop. The setting was quiet and peaceful with good facilities and Bridget supplied all the materials needed. I would definitely recommend this course - it was money well spent. Thank you, Bridget."

Anthea reviewed: 1 day introduction to silver jewellery making - Ely

"I so enjoyed my jewellery class with Jonathan. He is an excellent teacher, the day was very well planned and everything was explained thoroughly. We each made a pair of earrings and were given an information pack to take away. It was also such fun too with lots of laughs and the day flew by. I can't wait to return for another day's class .. and maybe another ....! Thank you Jonathan."

"Thank you to Sophie for a wonderful day. I cannot express how much I enjoyed the whole experience. Sophie was so enthusiastic, kind and patient, a brilliant teacher. I have been truly inspired by Sophie and the other lovely ladies at the workshop and cannot wait to have a go at my next model. I would truly love to attend another workshop to learn more, something to look forward to in the future."

Ed Marshall reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"I recently completed a one day wood turning tuition session with Graham and had a most enjoyable, interesting and informative day. Graham has an extremely well equipped workshop and, although I have never attempted wood turning before, I was soon on a lathe turning a small spindle and finished the day having turned and finished a fairly respectable 200mm diameter tulip wood bowl. All my own work (well nearly!! Graham’s experienced guiding hand was necessary on occasion). Coffees, lunch and afternoon tea were provided as was safety equipment and the wood blanks to work with. I have no problem whatever recommending tuition with Graham, to anyone thinking of taking up wood turning or just finding out about what is involved, for his calm friendly manner, teaching ability and extensive knowledge of wood and wood turning."

Alison Durrant reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"Had a brilliant day. I had never done needle felting before. And I was very surprised and pleased that I came away with a miniature version of my Japanese Spitz dog. Sophie is a really gifted teacher who is passionate about her craft. this in turn was catching, as none of us seemed to want to stop for lunch. It was very enjoyable. And I can't thank Sophie or her mother enough for their hospitality. I have come away with a needle felting kit so as to continue developing these skills I gained."

Richard Durrant reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"I had a brilliant day. I went along knowing that I wanted to make a scythe. Mort was very knowledgeable and admitted that although he hadn't made a scythe himself. He was very interested in teaching me the skills needed to make one. Mort had an old scythe that could be used as a guide to help us in the design. Which he later gave to me. I would highly recommend his course. And he makes a great cup-a."

Marion Gulvin reviewed: Clay Day Workshop

"My partner and I were given vouchers for this course as a Christmas present. We would never have thought of doing anything like this. It was a full day and we really learnt a lot about different clays and their uses. We were shown four alternative ways of using clays and Geri and Sue really knew intuitively which methods would suit us best. It was a great day out and we also had plenty of laughs too, mainly at ourselves, with our successes and failures. Geri and Sue were very encouraging in our efforts and helped us greatly to get the best out of any talents we had. I can thoroughly recommend this day out as a great experience and a chance to try your hand at a new craft."

Sue & Kev Hopkins reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"We have never worked with willow before so it was an absolute new beginning for us both. Kate was extremely welcoming and we decided to make a pair of herons. She is an incredible artist having seen some of her paintings and willow animals that she has made. Quite a lot of the time we were in absolute silence with concentration, then laughed. What a brilliant day which went far to fast. We had a very pleasant light lunch provided by Kate (prepared by Dave, thank you Dave) but we were just so keen to get back to the heron making. Before we knew it it was time to go. This course has inspired us and we would recommend the course especially if you have never tackled this before. Kate as an excellent teacher and a very nice person. Thank you so very much Kate."

Jean reviewed: Friday mosaic making

"The workshop was really enjoyable. There was a great selection of tiles and examples of what we could create. Audrey the tutor took time to explain how to snip the tiles and supported throughout. The venue and refreshments were great and it was lovely to be right beside the Verulamium Park and The Waffle House for lunch afterwards. I was really pleased with what I created. I'll definitely be signing up for more sesssions."

"Just started a 30'hour course of classes. The workshops are very friendly and relaxed and eveyone encourages 5each other. The tutor Garry is amazing he knows all you need to know about upholstery and is very hands on. I'm currently reupholstering a wing back chair and Garry is helping totally redesign which is what I wanted to learn. It's good to learn as many traditional techniques as possible. "I attended one of Lori's silver jewellery workshops on a Saturday morning. Lori takes you step by step through each stage. She clearly explains what you are to do, in easy to remember steps. I was completely absorbed for the morning and would highly recommend this course."

Kay Pearson reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day Blacksmithing Course and stay in one of the Shepherd's Huts. Nigel is very skilled, talented and a great teacher with many interesting stories. The workshop was very well equipped with lots of interesting projects to see. The Gallery and sculpture trail are great and show off some of Nigel's work. We also enjoyed looking around at his other projects and can't wait to go back for another visit at a later date. The Shepherd's hut was very comfortable and well crafted. We were pleased with what we made and couldn't wait to show our family and friends. Thank you for making a birthday wish come true. Richard and Kay"

"This was exactly what I needed! I had a one-to-one session with Ann and feel much more confident as a result. She worked at my pace, answered all my questions and I am now keen to start my first item. A lovely location too, so an afternoon well spent and £15 going to a good cause."
