Abigail Reilly reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day

"We had a great day at Strawberry Steel. It definitely lived up to expectations and then some. I turned up with only a vague idea of what I might want to make whilst my partner had detailed drawings. We both came away having created something we were not only proud of but had really enjoyed making. Colin had a really relaxed but supportive approach. We'll be back!"

Marie reviewed: Knitting workshops in Leeds City Centre

"I had not attempted to crochet since I was a small child so I approached my 2 hour lesson with Ann with some trepidation. I needn't have worried - Ann is a great teacher, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient. I very much enjoyed the lesson and left having completed a square and nearly completed a phone cover which I was able to finish at home. The Just Grand tea rooms are grand too and a lovely venue for the lessons.5"

Carole Artis reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"My daughter and I had a fantastic day and we came home really feeling we had achieved something. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, which helped me feel less worried about my lack of creative talent, so that, with the expertise and excellent support of all the team, I managed to come home with some garden ornaments which have surprised and impressed everyone I have shown them to. I would recommend this course to anyone, but with one word of warning - you may, like me, get the bug and want to do more!"

Rachel Warinton reviewed: Introduction to wet-felting: handbag, iPad case or something else!

"I've just spent a wonderful relaxing day with two friends on Cathy's felting course and am now the proud owner of a very beautiful and unique hat! Tanyard Studio is in a charming setting and the studio itself is beautiful, full of examples of what can be achieved on one of the courses that they run as well as all the raw materials bursting out of wooden boxes on the shelves around the studio. Lunch was delicious, all homemade (including the bread!) and hot drinks and cake offered throughout the day. Cathy was on hand every step of the way to guide us but making sure we did everything ourselves so that we could be suitably proud of our finished product. Get your friends together and book a course - you won't be disappointed!"

Glenn Parry reviewed: Candle making workshops

"We had the most amazing day getting to know Angharad and her family, while learning how to make candles. I booked this as a surprise birthday gift for my other half, and she loved it. Angharad is such a lovely person who welcomed us into her home and workshop. The day was relaxed, informal and very informative at the same time. We had so much fun making so many different types of candles. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in taking this up as a hobby, or who just wants a fun activity to do with a friend or loved one. Thanks again Angharad for a lovely birthday experience."

Hana Eggleston reviewed: Core Skills in Natural Fabric Dyeing

"This workshop was great, very comprehensive, informative and hands-on, with loads of information and samples to take away. We learned lots about the history of dyeing using plant extracts, and Justine introduced us to so many different dye and modification techniques. We left with all the knowledge necessary to continue practicing at home, a handmade booklet with a rainbow of swatches and a wonderful silk shibori scarf. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in textiles and sustainability, it was fantastic!"

Judy Wilson reviewed: Needle felting course with FURZIE at Trumpet Corner Tea Rooms, Ledbury, Herefordshire

"My daughter and I had a wonderful day. It was the first time I had ever persuaded her to embark on any craft whatsoever. A great success. She made a lovely copy of her dog and she's now enthusiastic about repeating the experience with a couple of our friends early next year. Although I didn't complete my dog, he is looking very realistic and I know that Michelle will be on hand if I get stuck finishing him. Michelle is a great instructor - clear instructions, jumping in to help get back on track when it's needed, and happy to let you do a bit of experimenting. Very generous to share her wonderful expertise and talent. Lunch was excellent, and we all loved the afternoon scones and cakes. All in all a great day."

Lesley Bool reviewed: Glass fusing with artist Patricia Lee - as seen on BBC1 Home Is Where The Art Is

"My best friend bought me this amazing gift. It's the best present I've ever had! I've never done anything like this before but Patricia is so talented at both explaining and producing great work that I felt confident to just get stuck in. I can't wait to see what my fish and my house turn out like after firing. Fiona and I were already planning our next course on our way home! Many thanks to Patricia and her family for a fantastic day including an absolutely delicious lunch. Looking forward to seeing you soon!"

Julie C reviewed: Leather Crafts - Belts and Purses

"I really enjoyed this course, doing something 'totally different'. Ruth explained and demonstrated the techniques very clearly and provided all the equipment etc that we needed to make our 2 items. The whole day was very relaxed; the venue was good and we were well fed at lunchtime. I arrived home with a smile on my face as a result of having made something 'all by myself'!! I would recommend both Ruth's courses in the future and the venue, which was easy to find (although suggest do your homework before hand about where to park)."

Jo Walters reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"I had an amazing day at the glass fusing workshop, with Steve Robinson and four lovely fellow learners. I cannot believe the results, and have definitely got the glass fusing bug!! I can't wait to try it again, but will go next time, armed with some definite ideas!! Even though my final panel doesn't look anything like the vague vision I had initially, I am so so pleased with it. Thanks to Steve for his unending patience and kindness."

Perelandra Beedles reviewed: Core Skills in Natural Fabric Dyeing

"I was lucky enough to attend this beautiful course during the summer. It is quite remarkable how much ground we covered, from total novices to creating our own eco spectrum using only plants. To then dye our own scarves really was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this course and will definitely be attending more Wild Dyery courses."

Mark Saunders reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"Chris's day course for two people is superb. My wife and I, both complete beginners, were taken through a range of techniques to each forge two items at a pace which was spot on for both of us. Chris was attentive and explained exactly what we had to do in easy stages, giving detailed explanations of both how and why. Throughout the day Chris was both patient and encouraging -a fantastic teacher/instructor. We started the day making leaf key rings and under Chris's tutorship both produced ones we were please with from a bar of iron by early afternoon. We were then asked what we wish to make next and at our suggestion made two mushroom ornaments. These now look fantastic on our mantlepiece at home. Chris is also fountain of knowledge -we now know the origin of phrases such as "too many irons in the fire". We recommend the day without reservation. Thank you Chris"
