Needlefelting is a wonderful craft, even if you don't think you are creative, the wool somehow inspires you to create. The course is suitable for beginners or those with some experience of felting already. You will be taught the basics of needle-felting, how to make a wire armature structure for your animal and how to sculpt with wool.
The needle-felting courses are held at Trumpet Corner Gallery and Tea Room, which is just outside Ledbury (HR8 2RA) from 10am until 4.30pm. There is parking there and lunch will be provided, as well as wool!
For the course cost of £65.00 you can choose what animal you would like to make (within reason!), but pick something you love and you are familiar with how it looks, bring photos and especially a picture of the animal from the side view, so that we can get the proportions right - I will help you with this, don't worry about it! Just let me know what animal you would like to make, so I can bring the right colour wool.
Courses also available at a number of other venues across the Midlands, or in your own home. For more information, click on "More courses run at this centre" below.
What's included in the price?
All materials and tools are provided, plus you get to take home your felting kit, which includes a felting mat, needles and pen tool. Lunch and refreshments also included.
The workshop is well worth attending, Michelle is an excellent teacher and makes the whole day fun and most enjoyable. The courses are small making it easier for Michelle to give individual attention to those who need it. It was lovely to spend the day at a brilliant venue with like minded people. The food at Trumpet Corner Tea Room was lovely, all freshly prepared and proper tea in a tea pot! I would recommend this workshop to anyone thinking of trying needle felting, you won't be disappointed and will leave feeling that you have achieved something.
Amazing teacher and a truly wonderful days learning set in great surroundings. The day was well paced, Michelle was expert on making sure everyone got the time and attention they required. I can praise Michelle enough. Lovely day, thank you!
I really enjoyed the Furzie Needlefelting Course with Michelle.
I loved the badger I made and am still thinking what a fun and totally informative course it was each time I look at my finished piece.
Lots of help and guidance on hand from Michelle and the kit you get on arrival was FAB everything you need to begin needlefelting.
I learned many skills and would definately reccomend this course to my friends.
Really enjoyed my day learning to felt with Michelle. She was very patient and helpful ; the venue was great (Ledbury); and it was a relaxing and therapeutic day. My dog is a bit spooked by the "mini-me" that I created of him with Michelle's help - but I take that as a good sign.....
Thankyou - and I hope to come along to another session and tackle a hare next time!
A thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day lead by Michelle, who made us all feel welcome, secure and capable. Her enthusiasm and talent were infectious! She responded to our needs with warmth, wit and encouragement. A highly recommended day!
I really enjoyed the course, Michelle was an excellent tutor - very encouraging and explained clearly, and showed us how to realise the ideas we had in this new material and technique. The venue was lovely (lunch was great!) and overall I thought this was good value for money with the time, personnel attention and materials we had.
Excellent course. Informal, instructive and enjoyable. My first delve into the realm of needle felting, but Michelle made the experience an enjoyable one with her teaching style. Other members on the course were of different levels of expertise, however this added to the mix and Michelle was able to give each person the time needed to ensure they achieved their learning goal and got maximum benefit from the course. I came away with knowledge, nice memories, a piece of my own handcrafted art, but more importantly the skills to carry it forward and hopefully help raise funds for the charity I volunteer for.
Thank you Michelle.
I really enjoyed the course in Ledbury with Michelle. It was definitely worth the 2 hours drive I had to get there. As I was totally new to needle felting I felt quite nervous but that soon changed. We had a lovely group on the day and Michelle was and is a great teacher. To start of with I felt a bit unsure but bit by bit I grew in confidence and I am happy to say that I love the squirrel that I made.
As soon as I got home I got onto the computer to order lots of needle felting stuff because I'm definitely not stopping now. Got so many ideas, so this was only the start of my felting journey. Thank you Michelle for a lovely and inspiring day. It's one of the best things I have done in a long time.
What a fabulous day. I enjoyed the whole experience and thought that Michelle was a great teacher giving us all individual attention, when needed. The location at Trumpet Corner was super and Jo and her staff looked after us all admirably. Very good value for money and I'm now addicted to Needle Felting!
Thank you Michelle.
Michelle is an excellent tutor and ensured the day was enjoyable I had never attempted felting before but was very pleased with the outcome !The venue was good ..easy to find and plenty of parking . The cake was very nice!
What a fabulous needlefelting course! Really enjoyed my day at The Trumpet learning a new craft under the expert tuition of Michelle, who is very talented (and also very patient!). Everyone works at their own pace so you never feel rushed and Michelle always steps in to offer help and guidance along the way.
I would thoroughly recommend attending this course; it's a great day out!
My daughter and I had a wonderful day. It was the first time I had ever persuaded her to embark on any craft whatsoever. A great success. She made a lovely copy of her dog and she's now enthusiastic about repeating the experience with a couple of our friends early next year. Although I didn't complete my dog, he is looking very realistic and I know that Michelle will be on hand if I get stuck finishing him. Michelle is a great instructor - clear instructions, jumping in to help get back on track when it's needed, and happy to let you do a bit of experimenting. Very generous to share her wonderful expertise and talent. Lunch was excellent, and we all loved the afternoon scones and cakes. All in all a great day.
Michelle was an excellent teacher providing just the right level of detail when we needed it. Maybe it was because I took too long on the wire frame, the gorgeous lunch or fabulous cake but I didn't finish. I panicked a bit at the end stabbing furiously but she made me concentrate on the ears and I'm pleased to say they went well. It looked like a dog - not quite my dog but definitely a canine!! I would have liked the course to have gone on longer but maybe if I do another I will be quicker. It was a fun interesting day that I'd love to repeat, thank you
What a thoroughly enjoyable course! I have been wanting to learn needle felting for some time now and finally got round to booking a workshop which I attended yesterday (18th October) in Herefordshire. Michelle is an excellent teacher and started us off well with the basics, but kept things moving to ensure we would leave at the end of the day with something we were pleased with. She explained everything very clearly along with a good sense of humour and spent time with each of us throughout the day to help and guide us. There were 8 of us on the course which I thought was an ideal number. A delicious lunch and afternoon cakes and drinks were also provided. The day just whizzed by! We were given the felting needles and mats to take home and also enough wool to be able to make any finishing touches to our creations. I will definitely be booking on another of Michelle's workshops to try my hand at a different animal!! In summary - great teacher, great course, great location, great value for money!!!
I had a wonderful day with Michelle - felt like I had been on holiday. Excellent tuition and attentiveness. Would like to attend another course and maybe make a hare although the Border Terrier I made was just so good that I may have to make another one so I have a pair!!
I attended a course with Michelle without a clue of what felting was. I was apprehensive that my skills wouldn't be good enough to create anything like the beautiful creations on her website. How wrong was I!! Michelle arrived with all her prepping for the class already done. Everyone was given a bag containing all the materials they would need to create their chosen animal and Michelle had even printed out a large A4 picture of the the animal so that you have a guide to work to. Her friendly approach soon had the class of 8 relaxed and ready to spend a day crafting. Felting really is the most satisfying absorbing thing to do. The animals built really quickly and everyone felt so pleased with their creations. They were just fab!! Michelle was always at hand assisting where required and was totally approachable.
The venue at the Trumpet Tea Rooms was perfect with morning coffee, lunch and a slice of cake with another drink in the afternoon. I felt the course offered excellent value for money and would really recommend it to anyone.
A great and very helpful day, Michelle gives the individual information each project needs! After my second session with Michelle I think I'm ready now to create a flock of various different colour sheep :)
I loved this course- you get so much packed into a short time and I love the hare that I made. I have learned something really useful and would like to attend another workshop in the future. Michelle is a great teacher and has a good sense of humour ( Think Jo Brand? hope that is not offensive Michelle!). The course is excellent value. The cost includes a take home kit and all the materials . You also get coffee, lunch and tea or coffee and delicious cake in the afternoon. The environment is lovely at the Trumpet art gallery as well. Would highly recommend this course.
Had a wonderful day learning to needle felt yesterday. Michelle was very patient and gave everyone in the group as much time and help as required. This was my very first attempt at the craft but I will certainly be booking another day to gain confidence and experience.
Very nice day full of useful information, clear instructions and a bonus of being fed nice food :)
Most important I was able to make a sheep which looks like one and got already many WOW messages from friends :)
I really enjoyed my day. Michelle was an excellent teacher and created a very relaxed atmosphere. It is great to be able to complete (nearly) a whole project in a day and have something worthwhile to take home. I would thoroughly recommend the course.
I went with a friend not really knowing what needle felting was all about, we had the most lovely day learning from Michelle who was an excellent teacher in a lovely setting. We were both amazed with what we were able to produce in a relaxed atmosphere. The lunch , cake and coffee were a welcome, tasty addition. I would highly recommend this course to anyone, you will be amazed what you take home and the skills to carry on and be creative at home. I will certainly be booking again!
I've done two workshops with Michelle and can thoroughly recommend them. She is patient and helpful and even needle-felt newbies will go home with something to be proud of! As for the location - it's all been said, and I agree!
A well-organised class in a great location. The pace of the learning was great and because of the smaller group numbers, everyone could progress at their own comfort level. Really pleased with not only what I made on the day, but the skills I learned. The cost represents excellent value for money - I'd highly recommend going with a few friends as the laughs are as good as the course :)
I have never tried needle felting before, but when a friend could not attend I filled her place at the last moment. I had a great time and managed to make a rat, all I have to do is add his whiskers! I would thoroughly recommend this course. Michelle is a good and patient teacher.
Wonderful day. Enjoyed every moment of it. Michelle is an inspiring and creative tutor. I was totally absorbed by the process throughout. Very addictive in the best possible sense. Cannot wait to go on another workshop soon. My daughter wants to join me for one after seeing the Airedale terrier that I produced.
I had a wonderful relaxing time and came away with Reggie who developed attitude as he came to life on the table. Not only a hare for Easter but a hare for all seasons. Also an excellent lunch and cake provided by the Trumpet tea rooms. Michelle is an excellent teacher for anyone like me who is new to the world of needle felt.
This is a fabulous course for beginners as well as more advanced students. Everyone is given a generous bag with all the tools and materials required to make their designated piece (plus plenty of wool to make a second piece at home). I wanted to make a budgie, which Michelle had not made before. She was so organised she had made a version of one before the course to show me the possibilities including coming up with clever ideas for the claws. At home I was able to use the techniques to fiddle and play and change my bird to further improve his shape and features. The hares, fox, dog, cat, rabbits made in class were of incredible standard. I was really impressed. I would like to do more! Puffin?!
Loved the Furzie course. I took my friend as a birthday present and she loved it too. Michelle is an excellent and patient teacher with a friendly and approachable manner. I was surprised at the excellent level everyone on the course achieved. We also had lovely refreshments and lunch provided and came home with a complete felting kit as part of our fee for the course.
Absolutely brilliant course. Perfect number of people and a really nice, friendly atmosphere. Good amount of time spent with the Michelle, but was also nice to be left to have a little play. Great value for money, and I always like to come away with some goodies which are included in the cost of the course. Very pleased with what I managed to make and I would thoroughly recommend trying it - I've got the bug now and have already made another animal.
Had the best time on this course which was bought for me as a Christmas gift. I'd fallen in love with Michelle's creations at a Christmas Fair and was really looking forward to the workshop. Not being particularly crafty I was hooked from the moment we started. It's so addictive and the day went so quickly, I didn't want to go home! Michelle is a fantastic teacher, and being part of a small group meant you get lots of personal tuition. I am so proud of my hare, and am already planning my next felt project!
Course location is excellent, very friendly folk at Trumpet Tea Rooms with lovely lunch and cake!
A brilliant day, interesting from the start, only a shame it wasn't longer! (Only because so enjoyable!). Great value and a fantastic opportunity to see and work with a really talented person. Needle felting was something absolutely new to me but at the end of the day I came away with a sculpture (nearly all my own work!) and the material for all my finishing touches - not to mention the feeling that I might have found something I really enjoy doing. What more could you ask for?
A fabulous day. Michelle is a gifted teacher, sharing her knowledge and talent easily and generously. The day was well-paced and everyone on my course absolutely loved it. We all went home with creations we could feel proud of and a great sense of achievement. I thoroughly recommend it.
