Angela Harrington reviewed: Beginners spoon carving course

"I attended the workshop as a complete novice and Steve was superb! Friendly and welcoming, clear demonstration and instructions at every stage, supportive throughout and he very easily shared his knowledge with each of the participants and answered questions according to their ability and skills (some had previously attended courses or worked with wood in some way, for example). Venue and space was perfect. I came away not only with my own rustic spoon but with respect and admiration for Steve and others working with wood, to create beautiful objects and tools to treasure. "

Northern Wood Monkey responded:

"Thanks Angela. I was a pleasure to carve with you and I am so glad you enjoyed the day."

Fully supported the whole way with lots of knowledge shared etc. I would 1000% recommend if not ideally I’d go again soon! Location and set up was very easy going and relaxed. "

Mark & Laura reviewed: Silver Ring Making Workshop

"We highly recommend this course. The course for us was quick - we knew the pattern and width of silver we wanted, so we were able to start the class right away. Darren is an amazing instructor and knew exactly when to let us work and when we needed his assistance. We had tons of questions and he had clear and knowledgeable answers. We came away with a matching wedding set to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The rings are a wonderful memory of our 20 days in Scotland that we are reminded of each time we look at our hands. The only critique we would have is not about the course, it was navigation only. The signage leading to the farm could be better, but once you got in there - you knew exactly where you were going. Google maps found the way - and the drive was worth it."

Mike George reviewed: Woodturning Experience Days - Come and spend a day turning your first bowl

"A thoroughly worthwhile day with Stephen. Although I had tried wood turning before, I had never had any proper, professional tuition. Stephen was very patient with explaining the different tools and techniques together with a quick guide to sharpening. At the end of the day I had turned two bowls and went home very happy. "

Bodden Cross Studio responded:

"Thank you for your kind words. I hope you continue to enjoy your woodturning and please keep asking the questions, very happy to help."

Joanne reviewed: Weave a scarf in a day - Wakefield

"This was a really interesting day and the tutor Anne was very knowledgeable. This course was ideal for beginners and with only six of us we received a lot of support and individual tuition. There were several steps involved setting up the loom but Anne guided us through this in stages . By the end of the day I think we were all very proud of the scarves we produced."

Helen reviewed: Willow Chicken , Heron or Flying Owl Sculpture The David Hall

"I can’t thank you enough for such a brilliant course. I attended with my mum today, and we loved every second, such a friendly and informative session and we ended up taking home our own ‘interpretation’ of a chicken and a pheasant. We were guided through every step, and were given help with every stage. There was ample willow to create a masterpiece. We were also supplied with plenty of hot drinks and biscuits. The group size was small which meant we had the help we needed. Our masterpieces at the end were ours to keep. Mine has taken pride at the front of my house! Thank you so so much, such a wonderful day, a memory I will treasure. I really 💯 rate this fantastic day out x"

Jo Sadler Willow responded:

"Gosh, thank you so much. What lovely feedback. You two were great company and made really impressive sculptures. Your mum took a great angle with her Pheasant , regal and strong, a brilliant first willow sculpture. Your chicken had fantastic energy, like it just had a shake down, very hard to capture. I've been inspired. So thank you. Kindest regards Jo "

John Tinner reviewed: Rustic thumb walking stick

"What a marvellous day out. Expert tuition by Dave, guides you through the steps of shaping and forming a quality walking stick. The woodland backdrop provided for a relaxed friendly atmosphere, coupled with energising cups of tea! I would thoroughly recommend this day at the workbench to any participant, whatever your woodworking skill set. I will certainly be signing up for another woodland course. The gate making looks particularly interesting. Many thanks for a great day to all concerned."

Gwen Bainbridge reviewed: Lampworking Workshop: Half Day Beginners Workshop

"Me and my partner did the 3 hour wkshop with Suzanne, something I’ve fancied trying for ages. We loved it! Suzanne was really clear with her demos and continued to be on hand at every stage when we had a go. She was v patient and happy to remind us what to do throughout. Her studio is lovely and comfortable to work in and her family were lovely when we invaded to use the loo! I really want to do this again, it’s quite addictive. We’ve just received our beads, which we were really chuffed with. She even included her demo beads for us too. Can’t recommend this highly enough. I’ve done quite a few workshops over the years using a variety of media. This tops them all, it was fab! Thank you Suzanne! X"

Suzanne Jewellery responded:

"Thank you Gwen for leaving such a lovely review. I am so pleased you and Simon enjoyed your workshop. Hopefully I'll see you again soon. "

Darcie reviewed: Cold Process Soap Making- Autumn Inspired

"Terrific course, Rachel is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. She made the course fun and engaging. This course used lye in the process and she was taught us how to handle it safely. We repeated the soap making process four times, making small batches of soap, which was much more beneficial than just doing it once. Plus, by sharing out all the soaps, I came home with 17 amazing smelling bars that will keep me clean for at least the next year 🤣"

Louise Woodland reviewed: Stained Glass for Home and Garden

"Having been fascinated by stained glass for many years I thoroughly enjoyed actually having a go myself. Anna was a great instructor who guided us through the day in easy to follow steps. The group had time to chat over lunch and get to know each other a little and by the end of the day we each took home a complete piece of fabulous stained glass art. Loved it. "

Anna Conti Stained Glass responded:

"Hi Louise, I am so glad you enjoyed not just the making but meeting the other students."

Phil Hubbard reviewed: Make a shave horse at Sallerton Wood

"I would highly recommend this course, Andy Morton the Instructor has a very calm and forgiving approach to the tuition, all tools and equipment at hand, no real need for any previous practical knowledge ( although as ever a little skill may help progress ), demonstrations are given and help is available if you get stuck at any point or if some of the tasks are a bit too physical depending on your own limitations, The idea is you complete the project almost entirely by yourself giving a huge sense of achievement and take home a Shave horse which is an essential piece of equipment to carry out further work. The surroundings are idyllic and the lunch time sandwich making ingredients provided by Jane are very tasty with lots of homemade elements. Be careful you may want a Pole Lathe next! "

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thanks very much, Phil, for your generous words about the course and its Instructor, Andy. Thanks also for your kind words about the provided lunches, and the woodland and stream settings for the course. We're delighted that you enjoyed the course, and we look forward to seeing you again at Sallerton Wood any time that you choose to return. In the meantime, enjoy using your new hand-crafted shave horse. "

Elena reviewed: Beginner's Secrets of Spindle Spinning

"I loved learning how to spin my own yarn. I appreciated Ruth's careful explanation of the trickier bits, and the way the video helps to show exactly what you need to do. I'm really pleased to see my progress over the 3 yarns, and my third one is really something I could crochet with. Can't wait to see what I can create next. "
