I'll start by guiding you through the basic skills of choosing your leather and fittings, measuring, cutting, edging, creasing and marking up for holes and stitching. I will then teach you to stitch double handed and how to use your awl and clams, whilst teaching you something of the rich history of English tanning and saddlery. I will keep you supplied with drinks and snacks throughout your time in the workshop! The second half of your time will be dedicated to making your own bespoke leather belt. I have a selection of brass and stainless steel buckles to choose from but If you'd like to make a really special belt ask me about the extra cost of our solid silver buckles made here on site by my husband.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Personal instruction from a qualified saddler and harness maker, all materials and tools provided. For £5 you can purchase a gift box to take home your hand made belt. Tea, coffee and snacks and soft drinks will be provided
I had a great few hours with Cazzy learning how to make a belt, she took us through the basics so no prior experience was required and we had plenty of practice of the required techniques before moving on to our final belt. The materials we were using were top quality so my husband now has a belt that will last him many years.
This course was great fun with lots of laughter and I would certainly recommend it.
