Description

In a relaxed and friendly setting enjoy a full day of fun, practical and informative learning making your own leather apron. Made from sturdy durable vegetable tanned leather, with adjustable neck, back and waist straps this utility apron is great for the BBQ, crafting and all sorts of possibilities.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as all abilities. Surrounded by the smell of leather, in Coterie's purpose built, light and airy leather studio, with absolutely no experience necessary, in a small group of 4 students you'll learn the basics of leatherwork, all about the materials and tools, cutting and preparing natural vegetable tanned leather, and traditional hand stitching techniques, as well as strap cutting and fixing hardware. You'll have the opportunity to design pockets and personalise your apron, perhaps your name or initials, and you'll go home with a beautiful unique handmade item.

Covid Update - The studio is light and airy with good natural ventilation, and the leather working bench is large enough to fit 4 students comfortably within the social distancing guidelines. Each student will have their own set of tools which will be sanitised before and after every workshop and further sanitising measures will be taken throughout. Handwashing and sanitiser facilities on entry. I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable with our Covid procedures, so if you have any queries please ask.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All materials are included in the price. Each leather hide is individually selected for its beautiful natural qualities, complete with hallmarks, scars and markings from the tanning process - a testament to the natural origin of the hide.

As this is a full day course and sue to Covid measures please bring your own packed lunch. Tea and homemade cake is provided at afternoon break time to keep your energy and creative levels up.

I have taken Tracy’s sneaker workshop and really enjoyed myself. The communication beforehand was helpful and the choice of leathers on arrival was really great. Tracy explained everything well and the homemade Barabrith was delicious. The end result was a super pair of sneakers. I wore them home and kept them on as they were so comfy! Thankyou again

I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. I am delighted with my clutch bag. The experience was totally delightful and I will be going to another one, once they are up and running again. I learnt so much from Tracey - an excellent teacher. Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this craft workshop. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with participants being encouraged to choose their own materials and their own style for the apron. The emphasis was on what you intended to use the apron for rather than follow a pattern and turn out an item the same as everyone else's.
I know I learned up a few techniques that I will use again. In fact I suspect I will be booking this or a similar workshop again. I particularly enjoyed the stitching. Very satisfying!

What a fantastic day and I’m so thrilled with my Leather Apron. The studio space is beautiful and the array of leather to choose from was brilliant. Tracy took time to demonstrate then was at hand while we were set loose to make. Tracy is an excellent teacher and it was wonderful see so much of her own beautiful work on display I am always interested in trying new ways to make and I think I may be hooked!

What a great day. Doesn't matter if you have never done anything like this before or got a few skills. By the end of this course you will come away so proud that you have made something yourself and learn some new skills. Tracy is a great teacher. I'd highly recommended the courses to anyone.

Had a brilliant day learning all about leather and the stages of cutting, preparing, sewing, finishing etc and came home with a fabulous bag incorporating some of the goat skin from one of my own hides. Highly recommend. Tracy is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher and happily shares her skills and knowledge. Will definitely be going again. Thank you.

Excellent setting and teacher. I was a complete novice who had never stitched anything or made anything from leather and was thrilled to have designed and made a great functional apron. Great cake as well!:)

I had a lovely time on Tracy's course and having played around with small projects at home using leather offcuts, it was great be tutored by someone with experience so I could learn and apply the basics skills properly.
The courses are held in a beautifully restored barn and you receive an apron and your own little tool kit for the duration. Tracy was friendly, professional and practical, taking us through every step of the make with great patience. We enjoyed a warm drink and a chat afterwards which is always a nice part of working together. I highly recommend booking an experience with her.

I had a very enjoyable evening learning to do leatherwork with friends under Tracy's expert guidance. Everything needed was provided, and all explained brilliantly. I left feeling very accomplished and looking forward to doing more!
Highly recommended for learning a new craft, making useful items and also for spending a fun few hours with a group of friends.

I booked this course as it seemed to include all the main skills required to start working with leather. I was not disappointed. Tracey let the student do everything themselves, nothing is pre prepared so you really do do everything yourself from choosing from a selection of hides, measuring, cutting, drawing, gluing, stitching, riveting and edging. It was a full day and I loved every minute. Tracey helped if you wanted, left you to work if you wanted, but always noticed if I was doing something wrong or needed help. The workshop is lovely and I had a really fab day. I love my apron too!!

A fantastic workshop and has resulted in creating a bespoke apron that I am very proud of and I can't stop showing to everyone - even if they haven't asked to see it!!
The day is very relaxed and the instructions and demonstrations are very clear and if any help is required nothing is too much trouble.
The materials are fantastic quality and the range of leather is huge - the hardest bit is choosing which leather you want to use.
I will definitely be booking onto some other courses this year - think it may become a bit addictive!
