Description
S P I R A L W E A V I N G and weaving in the round; a WORKSHOP-IN-A-BOX! A perfect introduction for beginners, or a fun alternative to a traditional rectangular frame loom, delivered through the post to your door. From the comfort of your own home, enjoy the relaxing and slightly addictive art of weaving - following the workshop step by step. You will be guided through warping the loom and following a range of weaving techniques to achieve exciting textural effects. Once you have finished weaving there are details covering removal of your weaving and finishing off your piece, before rethreading your loom to begin again! (The instructions are easy to follow photos.) By following this workshop you’ll gain all the skills to continue experimenting with circular weaving, and as the techniques are transferable to other frame loom weaving, this may just be the beginning of your next hobby. (But don't worry, weaving is a great way to use up all those odds and ends of yarn you may have in your yarn stash!) The loom and yarn colour themes are: SUNSET - an orange loom with yarns and fibres in glowing oranges, reds, purples and blues MOORLAND - a purple loom with yarns in heathers, purples and greens. OCEAN - a blue loom with yarns in sea blues, greens and whites. BEACH COMBER - a neutral loom with a soft palette of greys, ochres, sandy shades and weathered blues. There is limited availability for each colour so please do message me before ordering just to check what colours I currently have in stock. Kits will be created to order, and yarns will vary from those in the photos.

My love of weaving began as a child with a small Spears weaving loom, but it wasn’t until my textile degree at Central Saint Martins London, that I really became drawn to weaving. For many years after graduating I explored, experimented, and exhibited my woven textiles, all created on my beautiful George Wood Dobby loom - a huge floor loom that required a studio space in a mill! Alongside weaving I taught FE & HE textiles until I took time out to be with my young family. In 2017 I established my mobile weave studio and began sharing my love of weaving with anyone and everyone! I’ve had lots of positive feedback about my workshops and have gained an excellent reputation for delivering supported and informative weave workshops for beginners across Yorkshire and beyond. (I also seem to be responsible for a considerable number of looms being purchased by participants who found their ‘happy place’ and a new hobby weaving - ooops!) The Ashford Rigid Heddle looms I use for workshops are considerably smaller looms than the dobby loom and one of the great things about them is that they can be set up in the blink of an eye compared to a multi shaft loom! These looms are great for beginners but have loads of scope for experimentation and pattern making for more confident weavers and best of all no additional equipment is required! To start your weaving journey there is the option for you to join one of my classes at a yarn shop or venue across Yorkshire or why not get a group of friends together and I can bring my looms to you? If you love yarn then you’ll love weaving!
