Join experienced jeweller/goldsmith Lindsay Forbes, jeweller and founder of Laconic jewellery, as she guides you through this introduction course working with wire and silver. Learn some ring making basics; measuring your ring size, bending and shaping silver wire, basic soldering techniques, texturing techniques and finishing. These all combine to create your own unique set of silver stacking rings!
You will learn how to make one ring in copper first before choosing which patterned/plain wire you'd like to create your rings in. You can expect to make between 2-3 silver rings on this course, depending upon how much time you take to make each one.
The Venue: Elvet & Bailey
Elvet and Bailey is a shop and workshop space in Durham with the best gift items from a growing community of over 40 artists, crafters and makers.
Coming together with a "strength in numbers" attitude allows them to support independent, local creatives by providing high street selling opportunities in the heart of Durham City. Think of them as the best local craft market but on the high street and open seven days a week.
Elvet & Bailey is owned and operated by Creative Spaces Durham CIC - a social enterprise designed to use its profits and assets to benefit the community.
Their aim is to support, develop and benefit small scale creative businesses focusing on handmade gifts, as well as providing an environment where people of all ages and abilities can come together to develop craft skills. Upstairs they have developed a creative space for workshops and crafting for the community.
