No experience is necessary. Great for beginners and if you want to find out whether silversmithing is for you this is an ideal introduction.
Ever wondered how one can make a silver ring? Bringing together two ends of a metal rod is a magical process. During the this workshop you will be able to make a beautiful sterling silver ring by experiencing the traditional silversmithing techniques such as measuring, sawing, texturing, soldering, filing, sanding and polishing. You can make up to 2 narrow rings or one wider ring during this workshop. At the end of the workshop you will be able to take your sparkling ring back home.

A bit about your instructor:
I am a jewellery artist. I was born in Turkey and now live in Whitley Bay and work from my studio at the Biscuit Box Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne. I have been designing and making jewellery professionally for some time now. I have a background in landscape architecture and 3D modelling. I also have a background in teaching for more than 20 years in various settings- from one-to-one to lectures and seminars.
In my designs, I like to combine traditional silversmithing techniques with metal clay techniques. I like to utilise centuries old techniques such as mokume-gane, keum-boo and enamelling to fuse different materials together to create something unique. I am a member of the Network Artists North East, the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, and The Craft Council Directory. I am also registered with Edinburgh Assay Office where my creations are hallmarked.
