Introduction to Silver Clay “Impressions from Nature” During the course you will create either a pair of earrings and pendant for a necklace using Silver Clay. We will look to nature to inspire us using patterns found in nature and impressions from various items such as seeds, shells and more. You will learn how to create your own moulds to make your impressions. Silver clay is a unique material consisting of 100% recycled fine silver particles and a non-toxic clay body that binds the silver particles. After you have completed your design and it has dried, you will learn how to burn off the clay binder leaving behind beautiful bright shiny fine silver piece. This material is a wonderful medium to work in and requires no experience to get started. After the course you will have a good understanding of how to use Silver Clay for future creativity. You will use moulds and textures to impress into the material to create a unique and beautiful piece of jewellery. Rachel Hearne has been a designer goldsmith jeweller for over 23 years and has exhibited both nationally and internationally. She offers one to one tuition and specialist workshop classes from her purpose built fully equipt studio Rachel Hearne Jewellery School in Lancaster UK. She was lecturer of Jewellery and Silversmithing Nelson and Colne College teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced students for over 14 years giving her experience in teaching all abilites and ages.
