All day jewellery workshop experience with Silv-r Designs
Description
A chance to spend the day in my workshop experimenting and making. It may be a ring, or a necklace or even making a chain that you want to try and this all day session will give you the freedom and time to do so. Before your session we’ll have a chat to explore some ideas but really this is your day, and I’ll guide and support you to come away with a piece, or pieces, of unique jewellery - all handmade by you!
What's included in the price?
A small amount of sterling silver is included, which can be in wire and/or sheet form, sufficient to make a ring or a pendant. Should you wish to make more than one item, or a larger or more complex piece, there is the option to buy more silver on the day. I also have a selection of beautiful stones and necklace chains to purchase, to help make your design really special. All tools and equipment are provided, along with plenty of non-precious metals for you to experiment with.

Hello, I'm Ali. I am graduate of the internationally renowned School of Jewellery (SOJ), located in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Since completing my studies, I have served as an Artist in Residence and Technical Specialist at SOJ, and I currently work as a Visiting Tutor, supporting students of all ages. My expertise goes beyond jewellery, extending into silversmithing, where I craft larger pieces through traditional hammer-forging techniques. I have also expanded my skill set to include woodturning and woodworking, which I often incorporate into my silver designs. My passion for creating is equally matched by my love for teaching. There’s nothing I enjoy more than inspiring others, and guiding them as they bring their unique designs to life - an experience that is as rewarding for me as it is for them. Each class is limited to just two students, ensuring personalised guidance and a tailored experience - perfect for beginners with no prior experience needed. All classes are held at my workshop studio in Knutton, Newcastle-under-Lyme where I have two fully set-up jeweller's benches and all the tools you need.

FAQs
The workshop, kitchen, toilets and parking are all on ground level with no stairs. There are small, raised thresholds at the doorways so if you have any mobility issues or concerns, please just get in touch with me via the 'message the tutor' button.
Yes, there is ample free and secure parking at my workshop.
All classes are held in my workshop. We will be using hammers, small saws and other tools as well as handheld torches. Please wear comfy, closed-in shoes (i.e. not sandals). If you have long hair, please bring something to tie or hold it back with. I will provide an apron and any safety equipment if required.
Yes, there are toilets (fully accessible) and handwashing facilities available.
There is access to hot water, microwave and fridge. I will supply tea, coffee, sugar and milk. And there are always some biscuits to keep you going too! Please feel free to bring any drinks you may want, and any snacks - as there will be a break (or breaks).
Yes, there is a small convenience store immediately opposite the Newcastle-under-Lyme Enterprise Centre. There is a microwave, hot water and a fridge available for your use on site.
Unfortunately, I am not able to take bookings from unaccompanied under 18 year olds. If you would like to book you and an under 18 year old onto a class please get in touch for a chat.
My classes are tailored to each student, depending upon your skills and experience. So if you are looking to build on your skills, or want to learn new ones, I can support you. If you'd like to have a chat then please do get in touch.
If none of the dates listed for my classes are suitable for you please just get in touch to see if an additional class can be created. As my classes only have a maximum of two people attending, I can often be quite flexible.
