Silver Clay Jewellery workshop - an Introduction

Silver clay looks and feels like porcelain but when fired it is 99.99% pure silver. You will design a pendant and earrings (or two pieces of your choosing) and complete the project from start to finish with tips for best results and any assistance required. You will texture or pattern your pieces before firing, either in clay or greenware stage – you will be shown both. The workshop will take you through cutting, texturing, filing, pre-fire sanding, firing, sanding, oxidising, polishing and finishing. You will add findings and a chain so that your jewellery is ready to wear when you take it away with you. This is a full day course so you will need to bring lunch with you. Alternatively, as a workshop attendee you will get 10% discount at the on-site cafe where Santa uses local produce to make a fabulous lunch menu.

What's included in the price?

All materials and tools will be provided along with plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits. The course includes 10g of lump clay and access to the workshop silver paste pot as required.

I have been making jewellery since a young age. Even before studying at the renowned Birmingham School of Jewellery I was making clay beads & stringing them together. In 2019 I opened my own workshop & started offering courses in jewellery making using traditional silversmithing techniques & the comparatively contemporary medium of silver clay. I also offer one to one tuition for those looking for something tailor made to their needs. I look forward to welcoming you to my workshop.
