Silver Clay Jewellery at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District

Create your own silver pendant or earrings inspired by the natural world. Silver clay is fun, fast to learn and full of creative alchemy. When fired on the day, it transforms like magic into a piece of pure silver. Perfect for beginners and those with some experience. Silver clay is an exciting material a bit like putty. You can mould it like clay, sculpt it into any shape and create wonderful textures. It is fantastic for retaining fine imprinted detail. Depending on how fast you work, you can expect to create at least two pieces, maybe more. What’s great is you don’t need many tools or equipment so you can continue to make pieces at home. This workshop is packed with hints and tips to help you create some beautiful pieces and develop your skills. We will cover: • Prepping your clay • Rolling and texturing • Using moulds • Cutting out shapes • Sanding and polishing • Attaching jump rings/ posts/earring loops George Grange trained as a sculptor at Exeter College of Art and completed a PGCE at Goldsmiths. George has been making silver jewellery for the past six years and has recently completed Art Clay Diplomas in Silver Clay Jewellery with Tracey Spurgin. She is passionate about sharing her expertise and enabling students to develop their creative skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. She has taught both in London and locally in Cumbria as well as co-ordinating a wide range of Art programmes and festivals for the Brewery Arts Centre, in Kendal. This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a traditional converted Lakeland barn at Browfoot Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay on the farm. Check out our website for availability.
