Silver metal clay is an amazing material! Made from recycled silver, mixed with organic binders and moisture, it can be textured, shaped, cut and moulded like clay, but, when it's fired, it reverts to become 99.9% fine silver again. This means that you don't need any prior jewellery making or silversmithing skills to enjoy this media and make beautiful, fine silver jewellery pieces!
If you’re new to the magic of silver clay and want to learn lots of skills, techniques and tips in one concentrated burst, then this is the course for you. This workshop will take you from no knowledge to confident maker and immerse you in all things silver clay for an amazing two days!
You will learn how to prepare and work with the clay, how to make pendants, earrings and a ring and how to work with lump, paste and syringe clays. More advanced projects (which may require additional clay which can be bought on the day) are also available such as stone setting, 3D charms and bead making. You can design your own course content! You’ll have pieces fired in the kiln as well as being able to fire your work with a torch so you can continue working at home easily. You’ll learn how to achieve a beautiful shine to your work and how to add a patina to your pieces.
This workshop is suitable for those aged 16+.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The course fee includes all the silver clay necessary to make the introductory projects, use of all tools and equipment, and sterling silver findings. Larger/advanced projects may require additional clay available to purchase at the studio. You will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks each day. Free private parking on site.

I booked a last minute weekend workshop with Jo. I'd wanted to learn how to make silver jewellery for a long time and I was not disappointed. I learnt lots of techniques and was taught in stages of the process which helped.
I came away with a ring, earrings and two pendants, one I'm using as a keyring, one as a necklace with other pendants.
I thoroughly enjoyed the two days, especially as Jo is a patient and encouraging teacher. Her studio within the grounds of her garden is ideal with lots of light, space and tools. We enjoyed lunch outside in the garden (masks and social distancing of course during this time).
In addition, I was able to stay in her B&B which made the experience much more relaxing. Jo's breakfasts are fabulous, very tasty. My room was very comfortable and peaceful. I enjoyed evening meals out at nearby locations. Thank you Jo for helping me enjoy being creative once again and inspiring me to continue. Much appreciated, Louise (Ely, UK)
