Description

PRIVATE Silver clay workshop to be held at The Potter's Wheel. A small group workshop ideal for those who are new to or have limited experience with silver clay. You will learn about silver clay, what it is and how to handle it and have 5g of silver clay to make either one or two pendants or a pendant and 2 dangle earrings. You will be able to choose textures and cutters to use from my selection. We will focus on: - How to roll, texture and cut silver clay. - How and when to add holes for jump rings. - How to refine a piece before firing. - How to achieve a mirror shine. - How to polish your fired piece. NB this workshop does not cover making stud earrings or rings. The pieces will be kiln fired which will give time for a late lunch hour (hopefully sometime around 13:30). You will have the opportunity to finish your pieces after this break. There are many places close by to enjoy a lunch break.

I fell in love with silver clay at a taster session and went on to complete a diploma in PMC in 2020. My work is exhibited (for sale) in The West Oxfordshire Arts Gallery, Bampton, The Potter's Wheel, Wallingford and Kingfisher Studios and gallery, Crawley Mills, Witney. I love the transformation of the 'clay' to pure silver and hope you will too.

FAQs

This is a taster workshop, and the limited time and amount of silver clay are designed to give you a good introduction to the media and how to torch fire and finish your piece to a good standard. You will have the use of my tools and range of textures and cutters. If you have something specific in mind, please contact me via the 'message the tutor' button before booking to see if it can be accommodated within this workshop.

Please let me know if you have a specific dietary need, e.g. oat milk, vegan. Please let me know immediately if you have a food allergy so I can avoid bringing unsuitable food and drinks to the workshop. I will also need to alert the other students to do this too.
