Come for a day and learn how to dye yarns, fleece and silk fibres beautiful vibrant colours, using synthetic dyes. You will be able to try a variety of techniques, each giving a different effect.
They are lovely for knitting, weaving, crochet, embroidery etc.
It's quick, easy and fun.
You will learn about the wide variety of synthetic dyes which are available today so you'll have a better understanding about which ones are appropriate for various fibres.
As with all my workshops I will only be teaching 1 or 2 people per day beacuse of the coronavirus restrictions, so you'll get plenty of help and attention and will go away with a variety of samples. If it's a dry day we will be dyeing outside in the garden so please wear warm clothes which should be appropriate for dyeing.
You can bring small quantities of your own yarns and fibres, or use what's available.
Please bring a pair of rubber gloves and a pen.
Others Textile workshops available including Dyeing with Natural Dyes, Weaving and Spinning.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The cost of the workshop includes all equipment and materials required for the day plus a light vegetarian lunch including refreshments and home-made scones.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Fiona. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for all things yarn related is fantastic. I learned a lot and gained confidence in a process that I had no knowledge of prior to the course. I look forward to booking more courses with Fiona in future. Thanks Fiona :)
Response from Shropshire Weavers:Thanks Fflur, for your kind remarks. It was lovely to meet you. I hope you've had time to do more dyeing..... Look forward to seeing you again sometime.
I had such a lovely day with Fiona. She is generous with both passing on her incredible knowledge and skill and with her hospitality. I left feeling informed and inspired and am intending to book another course.
A lovely day spent learning introductory methods and techniques for tapestry weaving in a relaxed and friendly environment. Fiona is very knowledgeable and experienced in her craft, immediately putting me, the novice learner, at ease! Along with teaching the basics she gave lots of useful tips and suggestions on how to develop further skills, plus advice on equipment, books and relevant places to visit for inspiration. There were lots of examples of her own work to show what can be achieved using wool and textiles. And the food was delicious! Highly recommended.
Response from Shropshire Weavers:Thanks Denise. It was lovely to meet you and get you started on your weaving journey. I look forward to seeing you again and showing you more weaving techniques. Let's hope you get a loom for Christmas! Happy Weaving. Best Wishes. Fiona
I really enjoyed the day. Fiona was good at giving the right amount of guidance and encouragement to get me going with my first weaving project. Knowledgeable and experienced and interested in my ideas. Very hospitable too. Thanks
Response from Shropshire Weavers:Thanks Helen. I'm so glad you enjoyed your day and look forward to seeing you again. Enjoy your weaving and let me know if you any help or advice. Please send me a picture of your finished piece or post it on my Shropshire Weavers Facebook page. Best Wishes Fiona
Two wonderful days in Fiona's Studio dyeing wool, cotton and fleece with weld and oak (both picked fresh from her garden!), goldenrod, madder, logwood and more. Fiona is a superb teacher - very welcoming and knowledgeable, and her homemade scones and soup were delicious. Recommended if you want to learn the process of dyeing using plants from scratch.
Response from Shropshire Weavers:I'm so glad you enjoyed your day with your sister. Thanks for the review. Look forward to seeing you both again next year for Dyeing with Indigo. I hope your Mum liked her little handspun silk Hank dyed with Indigo. Happy Dyeing! Warm wishes Fiona
I really enjoyed the 1 day introduction course, my piece of work I created from this event is on my wall! I have now booked for the 2nd day. The course teaches you the basics for weaving and provides you with the confidence to try new methods and materials. Fiona is a very knowledgeable tapestry weaver. I can recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn tapestry weaving. Great lunch too.
