This is for anyone to the newest beginner to anyone who just likes to draw.
Age from 12 to 90. Men, Women, and Young adults.
1 day course held in the lovely Wolds village of Fangfoss near to the beautiful city of York. You may want to spend time visiting some of the sights in York when you leave after the days' painting.
My aim in holding drawing courses is to enable people of all abilities to explore, enjoy and try out different techniques and mediums.
The day begins at 10.00 am using charcoal, pastel, pencil and even fingers to achieve exciting results. Enjoyment play an important part as well as how we handle the items. If you have any, wax crayons or watercolour sticks, as well as pens and pastels please bring them as they could be a part of the process to help you to achieve a finished piece of work to take home and hang onto your wall. If you don't have any materials do not go out buying before you speak to me as I would not want you to spend money un necessarily.
The group will be small to allow for individual attention. However I do insist on everyone having an enjoyable time with lots of fun and maybe forming lasting friendships. We will break for a light lunch around 1.00 and finish at 3.00pm
Any covid restrictions will be adhered to.
Regarding your questions if there is still a risk of covid transmission.
The studio is approximately 38ft x 18ft and all of you will have your own space at 6ft tables that are well spaced out. You will come in from an external separate door into a sunroom with the sliding doors open. The working area will have some of the 11 windows open if weather permits
I will test your temperature on arrival and everyone would be asked to wear a mask at all times. There will be hand sanitises for use and you can scan a track and trace app if you have one on your phone. The room, toilet and kitchen facilities are covid compliant and are only used for my art courses. I have paper towels and hand sanitiser hand washing gel for your use. The studio and facilities are not only used as classes and are cleaned thoroughly before and after a workshop or class. If anyone wants to have drinks or food then they could go outside onto the patio are where there is seating. Any materials you use will of course be your own. The only thing I provide is tea, coffee, biscuits. I ask people to bring their own cups and lunch if they would prefer to. I am sure that this meets all safety precautions and that you do not have a need to worry unduly. Hopefully by the time of this workshop we will be free of this pandemic.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

I was able to do this workshop with Shirley and a small a week early and found it to be extremely stimulating, especially the input on dramatic skies (mine are ok but not particularly exciting). Seeing her latest piece of work quite took my breath away and I'm really looking forward to experimenting.
Response from Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All:Thank you so much for your praise Alison. I think your painting will be just as good when you have completed it. Carry on with the good work.
I very much enjoyed the workshop. It has given me confidence as it made me realize that everyone has his/her own style and there is no such thing as good or bad. Shirley is good at showing you little techniques and explained how you can use acrylics in different ways (wet/dry etc). She answers all the questions with patience and is a lovely host.
I enrolled my 13 year old granddaughter on this course with Shirley to encourage her to improve and learn. Carys has enjoyed this, her second workshop, and made the comment that the day had gone really quickly, which says it all.
With Shirley's guidance she produced a very nice landscape. Thank you so much Shirley.
I loved the course. Acrylics were a new medium for me and it was interesting to learn new skills and techniques. I had a go at the techniques taught in the class and really enjoyed it. I got home and did a brilliant painting using those techniques but with my oil paints, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the result, so I've learnt skills that also translate into my oil paintings.
Response from Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All:Thanks for your kind words Katie, You were a very capable student. I liked your willingness to try new techniques and to experiment. Keep on pushing the boundaries and getting out of the box.
Thank you Shirley for a fantastic, inspirational acrylic course. I loved it and learned so much about applying paint and achieved so much in a day! This was just what I had hoped for. You gave great demonstrations to start us off followed by lots of time to put what we had learned into practice.
Thank you so much Shirley.
Response from Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All:Hi Judy
Having thoroughly enjoyed a previous workshop with Shirley I was looking forward to this one, and I was not disappointed. It was an excellent combination of learning and fun. Clear demonstrations of techniques, sharing of ideas and information, individualistic responses encouraged, and tea/coffee/biscuits thrown in for good measure! By the end of the day I felt physically tired but creatively energised. Thanks, Shirley.
Response from Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All:Thanks Alison
Shirley is an excellent teacher; very patient and knows her stuff. I really enjoyed this day and was also very pleasantly surprised at what I learned and was able to achieve during the day. Highly recommended.
Response from Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All:Thank you so much for your feed back. it was great to see the way everyone tried out each technique I showed you.
