More Wet and Needle Felting Christmas Tree Decorations at Cartlands Tearooms
Description
A friendly, supportive workshop designed as a one-off session or builds on the session the previous week. We will begin with a dry needle felting technique to make some fantastic Christmas decorations suitable for the tree, or hang as a garland. You can carry on with the dry process if you are enjoying it or you will then be shown how to fix the fibres even more strongly using the wet felting technique. Create a Christmas pudding or some animal friends wearing Christmas hats. Or how about some beautiful Scandi style snowy white shapes that fit the season perfectly? Suitable for complete beginners or the more experienced you will learn (or revise!)! the basics of how to handle and lay out wool ready for beautiful pieces made using textile arts. You will be able to choose other fibres to complement your work and learn how to incorporate them into your felt artwork. The class is taught by Penny Dixon who has been felting and teaching workshops for over 18 years. She is a qualified teacher and also has a Masters in Art, Health and Wellbeing. She has led workshops at numerous museums, hospitals and community venues as well as the Midlands Arts Centre. She has exhibited most recently at the NEC Birmingham, MAC, many hospitals in Solihull, Birmingham and Coventry and Worcester City Art Gallery. She is a member of the Heritage Crafts Association and also the International Feltmakers Association. You may wish to bring a picture to work from, a notebook and pen, a waterproof apron and a carrier bag to take damp work home in.
