I am a professional jeweller and adult education teacher - teaching jewellery making since 2009. I offer individually tailored 1-1 / private tuition with me in my studio in London.
I can also groups of two people, so if you would like a different kind of day out with a friend or family member, do get in touch for more information.
I work primarily in silver, but also love to incorporate a variety of other materials in my own work - from textiles to bead to hand carved stones. I love mixing materials and techniques together so have developed a wide range of skills that I share with students.
As this is personalised individual tuition, sessions are individually tailored and can be created to suit complete beginners as well as for more advanced students wanting to add to their skills.
Teaching from my studio in central London - close to Camden Town station, I have everything you need on hand to make your own gorgeous jewellery.
Whether you are completely new to jewellery making and fancy trying your hand or starting at a new hobby, fancy a fun day (or evening) out with a friend, or already create your own jewels and want to build on your existing skills, I can help you create unique, professionally finished jewellery.
This listing is for learning to make your own silver jewellery:
Beginners will have a day of projects to introduce the basic skills starting from scratch learning to form rings, to pierce (cut out) designs from sheet metal, and to solder (join) elements.
For intermediate or advanced students we can look at chain making, introducing stone settings, cuttlefish or sand casting, simple etching, metal forming - creating 3D shapes from sheet metal, or specific personal projects of your own.
I also offer tuition in a range of other jewellery making techniques, including:
- Bead stringing and wirework
- Pearl knotting
- Kumihimo (Japanese braiding)
- Silver clay jewellery
- Wax carving
- Stitched beadwork
I offer one off, one day sessions as an introduction to, or skills boost on a specific chosen topic or style of jewellery making, as well as offering blocks of sessions for those looking for longer term support/mentoring or to build more skills.
All tuition is personally tailored to you, your interests and starting skills level.
Classes will be socially distanced - wearing masks when we need to get closer, and all tools and equipment sanitised before the session..
I have been making jewellery for around 25 years, have a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing (1999), and have been teaching jewellery making since 2009, when I completed my initial training for teaching adult education classes. I love making jewellery and sharing my skills with new people from all over the world; I have occasional repeat students visiting from Italy, France, Egypt, Norway, as well as from all around London and the UK.
