7 Week Silver - Smithing Jewellery Making Course
The course runs over seven weeks on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening from 6 - 8:30pm
The course content consists of:
2 weeks learning how to make stacker rings
1 week learning basic stone setting semi precious stones
2 weeks learning how to make cuff bracelets and bangles
1 week learning how to use and mold silver clay
1 week working on a project piece of your choice based upon some of the skills you have learned from attending the course.
If you are interested in learning how to make your own silver jewellery, along with learning Silversmith skills then this is the course for you. The silversmith course is suitable for absolute beginners to people with some prior experience who may wish to build on the skills they already have.
The skills you will learn during the course are how to measure your fingers and wrist to cut the correct size copper & sterling silver metals. Students will learn how to Anneal & shape the different metals into the desired jewellery shape, along with learning how to saw, solder & cure the metals before finishing with buffing and polishing them to a high shine finish.
This course is very interactive and continued support is offered throughout the length of the course, whilst at the same time allowing students to work independently.
The course runs for 2.5 hours each week, but on the odd occasion can slightly overrun to enable students to complete the piece of jewellery they are working on.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All of the materials used throughout the workshop are included within the price.
During the workshop there is an unlimited supply of free tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits available.
There is plenty of free parking situated around the building, making it convenient for day, evening and weekend courses.

I had a great time attending the silver clay course and made a pair of lovely pendant necklaces. This was my first time at making anything out of silver and I thoroughly enjoyed the class and the tutor was great.
Response from La Jade:Thank you for your lovely review Jasmine, I’m glad you enjoyed the course.
I finished the course last week and couldn't of asked for more. Carol takes her time to find out what exactly you want to learn and works round that. The work shop and suite are kept at great standards with everything provided. You get to work on sterling silver which Carol generously provides and also gives insight on where to buy and locate your own goods for the future. The course provides a lot more than just learning new skills, I came away with a good knowledge of the industry. Thanks a lot!
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. I have learnt so much thanks to Carol. She is a fantastic teacher who is very generous with her knowledge and skills. I now know what kit I need to take on a small project and have had a good introduction to some of the different techniques. I can’t wait to come back and do another class as I am already missing it!
Response from La Jade:Hi Sarah,
I have just finished the Silversmithing course and feel very confident with the skills I have learned and feel confident enough to take on small projects on my own. I will be looking to attend the next level course later in the year, once I have had time to put into practice the skills I have already learned.
Response from La Jade:Hi Carrie, thank you for your lovely review. I am glad you enjoyed your time on the course, it was a pleasure meeting you. Look forward to seeing you again on the next course later in the year.
