Have fun learning to forage for seasonal wild food and fungi

Description

From luscious wild garlic in the spring to fabulous fungi in the autumn, learn how to find abundance in every season with expert landscape ecologist and forager, Adrian Boots. There’s always plenty to find in nature’s larder, if you know what to look for! He taught the late, great, Terry Wogan how to cook wild food on TV, and took Mary Berry foraging on Countryfile! Adrian is a former university lecturer and researcher and has worked with most of the UK's leading conservation and wildlife organisations. His events are fun and engaging and based on his extensive knowledge and experience of what grows where and why. Participants love his encyclopedic knowledge, easy style and approachability, making foraging safe, fun and accessible to everyone, whatever their age and background. Adrian is passionate about wild food and enjoying the fruits of the ‘quiet hunt’. Rather than just teaching a list of wild foods, he enjoys helping people understand the connections between habitat and species so that they develop a more holistic understanding of wild food within the context of the landscape, and our fundamental relationship with food and the natural world. In this fun, fascinating and highly engaging experience you will: Learn all about the 4 F’s and take a deep dive into what’s in season: Foliage Flowers Fruit Fungi Hone your identification skills by focusing on the 3 W’s – What, When and Where, and learn to read the landscape. Join us for an inspiring day at our private venue on top of the Mendip Hills Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty within easy reach of Bristol & Bath, from 10am to 2pm (do allow extra time, up to 3pm, in case you have further questions, as often the discussion continues!) Events are based from our own 10 acre site, which is managed as a fabulous teaching resource. Unlike most other foraging courses you can fully experience wild food foraging as we are able to show you what's available on private land, some of which, by law, you are unable to forage for on public land. We have excellent facilities, including indoor and / or under cover for tastings and refreshments / meals and full WC and hand-washing facilities.
