An ideal workshop for those looking to have a go at hand spinning, you will have the opportunity to prepare fibre and use both a drop spindle and a wheel to make your own yarn. You will have the opportunity to experience the different qualities of at least two different fleece types; of two rare breed sheep from Bury St Edmunds (Manx Loaghtan and Hebredian) and hopefully some Wensleydale (super long and also rare breed).
You will use wool ‘in the grease’ (unwashed), so be prepared to get a bit sheepy!

I hadn't done any painting since my school days (a long time ago!) and was pretty terrified but Janet walked everything through with such patience and encouragement I was able to get over my insecurities and paint a picture I was proud of! Everyone in the class I was in, had different insecurities but by the end everyone had painted a beautiful picture and felt confident that they could continue to grow! Her experience in painting flowers 'in the flesh' is well demonstrated and she knows how to bring out the delightful characters of every species; even the most tricky of characters! Her techniques for composition are genius!
Jill is a wonderful teacher with years of experience of glass art and teaching under her belt. Having never done anything like this before I was able to produce beautiful pieces in just a few short hours! The space at Cambridge Makers is also really lovely and welcoming and has excellent facilities.
