Course Start DatesMonday 6th April 2020
About the Course
Would you like to learn how to spin your own yarn and use a drop spindle and spinning wheel? Come and join me at my home in rural Caerphilly where I will explain and demonstrate, step by step, how to transform raw fleece to finished yarn that you can knit with.
Students will learn how to wash, card and spin fleece using hand carders, a drum carder, drop spindle and spinning wheels. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Anyone who already owns carding and spinning equipment may bring this along if they would like to find out more about using them.
At the end of this workshop, you will take home a mini-skein of plied yarn, a detailed, illustrated handout, along with ideas of how to use your hand spun yarn and the inspiration you need to continue learning and practising at home.
This course is suitable for complete beginners, those who have had a try at spinning fibre but struggled getting going or those who just want a bit more guided practice and access to tips and tricks.

This course was covering all the aspects I was looking for and beyond. Gina is very friendly and knowledgeable person and really knows her stuff. Very well structured course in a very relaxed environment. The time just flew by.
And her cakes are absolutely delicious!
I can only recommend this course!
Many thanks for this wonderful day.

Linda Harber - - #27344
Response from Woolly Workshop:Thank you Linda! Stay in touch and don't hesitate to get back to me if you need any further help with any aspect of fibre preparation and spinning.
Gina created a lovely relaxed atmosphere which made for a great day. It was a great introduction to the various processes and we all got to try a variety of tools and wheels. I struggled with the wheel at first and Gina was very patient, watching and showing me where I was going wrong. We all left with yarn we’d made but even more importantly we left with enthusiasm to keep going.
