More than just a sewing course! Free motion/hand machine embroidery is a simple technique that can open up your sewing creativity. I will show you the basics of setting up your machine and how to use varying tensions to create different effects. Learn about thread sizes, needle sizes, thread feeding and how this affects your results. Experiment with interfacing and hoop work and develop your own way of working. Y Ffatri (The Factory) - Is our converted water mill where the workshop takes place. It's set in a beautiful valley next to the river Aled in Conwy county, North Wales. Weather permitting, lunch will be in the stunning garden, where you can also take a woodland walk along the river for inspiration. If the weather is bad then the log burning stove will keep us cosy as we munch, chat and stitch our way through the day. I aim to give a complete experience. You will leave feeling spoilt and relaxed, having learned a new skill, and with your own creation to take home. You will create an applique panel of your own design which can be applied to many formats - tote bag - cushion cover - framed artwork. This may be achievable on the day, but if not I can complete the project for you and post it out for an extra fee. You will need to bring your own sewing machine, with a feed dog drop facility or plate to cover the feed dogs, and bring an embroidery foot or a quilting slide foot, otherwise all materials will be provided. All materials and tools are provided, including fabric and thread. Bring your own machine as above - with instruction manual. Refreshments are included throughout the day, including homemade cake and a wholesome lunch. Parking is available.

Yes of course. However please gain the consent from other course participants should you want to include them in your photographs. We also ask that you ensure you get their expressed permission before posting any images online. You can however take as many photographs of the environment, us, and the workshop in progress.
Absolutely! - If you have a desire to create a specific image then let me know on the day and we'll do our best to help you produce what you have in mind.
We ask that you let us know about any allergies, and can cater accordingly. However we are not a commercial kitchen and therefor cannot guarantee that your lunch won't have been prepared anywhere without contaminants. We can cater for Vega/Vegetarian and gluten free diets
Yes - We have a Stabyhoun called Daisy and two cats called Morgan and Rudy. If you do not like animals please let us know and we can ensure that they do not materialise during your course.
yes - we have a long tarmac drive which is steep, however we can help you out of the drive
