During this 3.5 hour class you will be creating your own machine embroidery landscapes using a variety of materials including fabric, paper, paint & stitch. The emphasis will be on developing ideas and and producing samples using a mixture of media and techniques and having fun with colour and texture. Some experience of machine embroidery would be an advantage for this class - although I welcome beginners as well as those with more advanced skills. You can bring your own source material (photographs, sketches, magazine pictures) to work from or I can supply some material for you to work from on the day.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine with embroidery foot & be able to lower/cover the feed dog. You will be learning in a relaxed environment with lots of one-to-one attention as class sizes are small (up to 4 people for group sessions or one-to-one).
This class runs on specific dates throughout the year (see my website link for details) and is also bookable on demand either as a one-to-one session or group session for up to 4 people.
Please contact me through my website or email to book a date or if you require further information.
I also run a selection of other courses from my garden studio in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. Please click on the 'More courses run at this centre' button link below.

What's included in the price?
This workshop includes light refreshments (tea, coffee, homemade cake and biscuits).
A varied selection of different fabrics and trimmings is always available at my workshops, and for this class, art materials are also included - paints, crayons, brushes, art paper etc.
I am not yet very confident with machine embroidery but Sue was so reassuring and encouraging that I was soon getting the hang of things. I had a great day experimenting with paint, colour, different fabrics and stitching techniques and went away with lots of ideas to work on. We were well-supplied with drinks and homemade cake and made to feel very comfortable in Sue's inspiring workshop. After the course, Sue sent us an email with a list of suppliers for the materials which we were using from her plentiful stocks; nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
A lovely way to spend a day in Sue's studio filled with her own wonderful work, inspiration and lovely crafting materials. Sue not only encouraged us to experiment in our introduction to machine embroidery but also taught me things I didn't know about my machine and hand embroidery. Topped off with lots of tea and cake. I'm inspired to get embroidering for our wedding!

Thank you for the lovely review, Ros. So glad you enjoyed the day.
A great course in a lovely cosy and inspiring environment. Sue is a good teacher, very encouraging and patient. I came away with a super framed embroidery and equiped with lots of knowledge to take this new craft further. I thoroughly recommend this course and Sue's work.
Sue was quick to establish my level of experience and what I wanted from the course. The garden studio is a perfect workspace with all materials readily to hand. I was delighted to finish some appliqué autumn leaves and have already booked another class. A lovely way to spend a morning!
Had a great morning in a warm and friendly environment. Learned new skills and went home with my very first hoop embroidery design. Sue is patient and explains everything very well. Will definitely attend another workshop by this great designer
