This workshop is designed to develop all the skills and techniques you need to produce beautiful unique ecoprints on fabric.
Ecoprinting is a magical and sustainable process. Using heat and pressure you will learn how to transfer plant’s natural dyes and outlines directly to fabric. This workshop is suitable for beginners who are keen to achieve clear defined prints on fabrics.
The morning will be spent experimenting with different leaves and foliage mordants on sample pieces so you can print your final piece for your lampshade in the afternoon.
You will use recycled fabrics as far as possible and all waste materials from the process will be composted.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. No previous experience is required.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All tools, materials and tutoring will be provided as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. You will need to bring a packed lunch or use local facilities. You will be invited to bring your own foliage.

I hadn't done any painting since my school days (a long time ago!) and was pretty terrified but Janet walked everything through with such patience and encouragement I was able to get over my insecurities and paint a picture I was proud of! Everyone in the class I was in, had different insecurities but by the end everyone had painted a beautiful picture and felt confident that they could continue to grow! Her experience in painting flowers 'in the flesh' is well demonstrated and she knows how to bring out the delightful characters of every species; even the most tricky of characters! Her techniques for composition are genius!
Jill is a wonderful teacher with years of experience of glass art and teaching under her belt. Having never done anything like this before I was able to produce beautiful pieces in just a few short hours! The space at Cambridge Makers is also really lovely and welcoming and has excellent facilities.
