I attended last term but was unable to continue in the current term due to other commitments. I found the class very inspirational and really enjoyed learning new techniques which were clearly explained and demonstrated by the tutor. The class is so well organised by Rene, who made me feel very welcome right from the start. I can’t wait to attend again next term.
A highly professional art class held with outstanding quality of teaching including detailed notes. All materials are provided which makes it easy. An easy going friendly group of people makes for fantastic fun!!!
I attended my first course last September 2019. This was my first venture back into art for about 20 years. The class was welcoming and very well organised by Rene. Everything was provided and taken care of at the end of the class. Inge taught us step by step, which was very helpful and was encouraging throughout.
Most classes I have attended classes back in the past, have always made an assumption of prior knowledge. This class managed to differentiate between those of us who required going back to basics and those who were very advanced. The provision of materials takes away the issue of always needing the right tools for the sessions and provided lessons which started with basic drawing then going through most mediums. This made this course an absolute pleasure. I started to feel I could tackle projects at home and have every intention of re-joining a class this year. I cannot recommend Colour Wheel more highly.
I would recommend this course to anyone. Whatever your ability you will be made to feel at home. I love the fact that over the 14 weeks there is an opportunity to learn new skills and learn about different types of media. Most other courses just focus on one. Rene is brilliant at keeping it all together and Inge is inspirational as the tutor. There is great camaraderie within the group and everyone is supportive of each other. I am so pleased to be part of this experience and will book up for another course in the Autumn.

It was truly by chance and total curiosity that I and a friend came across ColourWheel. The reception we received was with a warm and inviting smile and we immediately were made most welcome.
It was a natural step then that I joined. This is now my 2nd year, and every week I can't wait to come to our class - the 3 hours go by so quickly!!! Renee is a fantastic organiser, always friendly and helpful and is right beside you to give you what you need even before you know yourself what you need! My teacher is Inge - what a teacher she is - wow!! Always encouraging, always seeing the artist in you and never lets you think your work is "rubbish".
All the other students - many of them so much more advanced in talent - are also most encouraging of each other's work making the class more like a "family and friends" gathering. I would certainly encourage anyone who wants to start, or improve, or continue to draw or paint to join ColourWheel - I have tried quite a few before, but ColourWheel is the one. As well - you get all the materials / everything supplied - all you need to bring is just yourself. What a treat!
I received this 14-week course as a Christmas present and it was one of the best presents I have ever had. There is no better way to learn to be mindful than have chance to sit quietly in a comfortable room with everything you need in front of you, forget your troubles and concentrate on learning a brilliant new skill. The teaching is first class - in fact our tutor is in the current 'Portrait Painter of the Year' series on TV. She is kind, patient and extremely talented. The classes are incredibly well organised. Each week we receive an email with exactly what we will be covering and some tips in case we want to try the week's technique before class. Most of us don't! But it's fun to learn together and everything we could possibly need is provided. In fact in the first week I did buy a starter pack so that I also have everything at home, and I have enjoyed a couple of practice sessions after each class - I find myself really wanting to do more. Everyone in the group is supportive, encouraging and it's fascinating how we all interpret each subject slightly differently. I have made a few new friends and look forward to continuing.
This is a fantastic course and led by lovely and talented people. I started just under a year ago having never drawn anything other than stick men and now I am drawing and painting quite confidently and feel utterly inspired. Both the teachers in Maidenhead and Windsor are patient, technically fantastic and have helped me see more in our beautiful world! The course involves working with all media so while building skills, you also put your toe into the water with so many different mediums. As a result of working with Inge, I am going on very first art weekend in May. I am very grateful that I found the Colourwheel. Oh, and did I say, the other people on the course are lovely too!
I have been attending the Colourwheel course for quite a few years now having not done any art since school. Both Erica and Inge are great teachers and everything is expertly organised by Rene. It's also fantastic that the course in Maidenhead is run at Norden Farm or Sportsable - two great charities so good to give money to these worthwhile causes. All materials are supplied on the course so you just need to turn up. You get to create your art using a variety of mediums eg pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal, ink, lino printing, brusho, watercolour, acrylic and even collage. Other students are very encouraging and now friends outside of the course. The course takes you away from your everyday worries for 3 hours and I look forward each week to the new challenges set for us.
I had been attending an Art class elsewhere but became dis-satisfied with the teaching and the student/teacher inter-action.
I made the decision to change to Colourwheel in Maidenhead and have been delighted with it. They care for each individual and make extremely pertinent remarks to each student.
There is also a great atmosphere in the class group encouraged and maintained by the staff.
The class is one of the highlights of my week!
A great course that helps to develop your artistic skills at all levels. Friendly, welcoming and extremely well organised so all you need to do is turn up. Each week there is a new challenge and technique to have a go at with demonstrations and advice from a first class teacher. I have really enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who has ever wanted to enjoy creating a work of art of their very own!
This course is so good. Extremely well organised, friendly, fun, top quality teaching and suitable for anyone. Highly recommended!
I came to the course with minimal school level art experience only, and have developed confidence I never had, and skills I only had aspired to. Rene and Inge are amazing inspirational teachers and leaders.
I am thrilled that I have had the opportunity to be part of such an inspirational course and plan to engage again on the next available one. There is an fabulous collegial atmosphere in the group which adds to the overall excellent experience. Thank you.
These are the classes where you learn to fly!
The tutors are of the best, Rene is an imaginative and hard working hostess and we meet in perfect surroundings. I have been to other classes but here the other students are my friends who encourage me to improve without being critical of my efforts.
I am always relieved when Rene agrees to accept me for a further term.
I was one of ColourWheel's first students and have attended the course five times in Maidenhead. The course is brilliantly organised and run by Rene and very ably taught by Erica and Inge. All materials are provided which makes attendance so much simpler than taking one's own. The venues are very comfortable and well suited to the course: refreshments are always available and there is plentiful parking. Above all though, the course has a comfortable, calm, friendly, supportive atmosphere and feels like a group of friends. So, it is as much a social event as a course, which suits me perfectly in retirement. The pace of the course has been adjusted over the years to ensure that the three hours are not over crowded with exercises - there is just the right amount to do. No particular expectations are set by the teachers so it is not stressful! I painted with acrylics for some years but the course has developed and broadened my experience through many other media. I thoroughly recommend the ColourWheel experience!
I would like to express my praise for ColourWheel Art Classes for adults! I enjoyed them so much that I have completed 6 terms ...
Lessons are both stimulating and challenging, designed to develop our skills in a supportive and fun environment. Rene, our host, provides a warm welcome and ensures that the lessons are totally organised. It is fantastic to know that we just need to bring ourselves along - all materials and equipment are provided. Inge, our teacher, demonstrates the techniques clearly and provides individual attention and tips in a sensitive fashion when required but will also let us find our own style. Furthermore, lesons take place in attractive venues with a lovely group of fellow enthusiasts. Highly recommended!
The courses were well prepared and presented in a friendly atmosphere. We touched on all the various media (water coloring, pastels, acrylic and others).
It gave us a good base to continue on our own.
The location is easily accessible with easy parking and pleasant facilities (cafeteria with good food and pleasant terrace.
The courses are excellent value for money.
I followed the courses for the second year running.
I highly recommend these courses as an introduction to drawing and painting.
Really fabulous art classes, great teachers, lovely group of people in lovely venue. I have returned for a 5th term, I would definitely recommend!
Just completed my sixth course and cannot wait to sign up for my seventh.
Absolutely fantastic cannot speak highly enough of Rene, Inge and Erica. They are professional, kind and nothing is too much trouble.
I have learnt so much from my Colour Wheel sessions. Using so many different mediums and covering many topics. It is the highlight of the week. The three hours just fly by.
Classes are thoroughly enjoyable in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. I am so glad I signed up. I would not hesitate to recommend these classes. So what are you waiting for, come along join a class and have a fun time.
I am in my fifth term at ColourWheel, having started as a complete beginner last year. Classes are thoroughly enjoyable and relaxed. With the excellent encouragement, tuition, and guidance provided I have learnt so much and I am gaining confidence in my ability every week.
Many thanks to Rene, Inge and Erica, and also to my fellow students
Mike.
I first joined the beginner’s class, with no previous art experience and found that I could actually draw and paint recognisable objects - much to the surprise of my family! Being able to experiment with colour and mediums in class was invaluable as I developed my own style, better than I could have hoped. Rene and the teachers were so patient, supportive and extremely encouraging. Anyone who is even thinking about art classes should definitely go to ColourWheel where your inner hidden artist will be gently nurtured and celebrated.
I first joined the beginners class in Windsor almost 2 years ago and with the encouragement of Rene and Erica I went on the join the class in Maidenhead with Inge . I am so grateful that all of them have enabled me to rediscover my love of art . All the classes are very relaxed and every week there is a new medium to try out with Inge there to encourage you along the way .
I am eternally gratefully to them all as I will shortly have my own website up and running selling my pet and animal portraits
I absolutely love Rene and Inga's classes, I have learn't so much and it's lovely to be introduced to so many different techniques & mediums, something I would never have done without their encouragement. Lovely friendly class where you can lose yourself for 3 hours and just paint and draw. Absolute bliss.
I'm now in my 8th term at ColourWheel, which tells you how I view the class. Rene is a great organiser & lovely person. Everything we need is available for all the different types of lesson & sometimes things we don't e.g. biscuits, cakes, sweets, taco's etc but which make classes so much more than just a lesson. The teachers are great, totally understanding of different peoples’ needs. Currently at Maidenhead Inge du Plessis is our teacher & she gives clear instructions on technique etc. but lets you go your own way if that's what you want, helping if required. The classes are fun and relaxed and after 7+ terms I'm still learning and still having fun. Come along & give it a go I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I attended these classes from 2015 till the beginning of this year when I started working again. I loved the time for myself, the people I met and the lovely venues the classes are held in. You are shown how to use all the different types of paints and pencils, so now I can use theses at home. Every class is different over my time no subject was ever repeated. The teachers are talented artists and want to share they talents with you, always encouraging. I learnt a lot and it gave me confidence. Always well organized with everything you could need, I loved it and miss it. I highly recommend it to anyone.
