Join Ben, bushcraft instructor and an expert wood carver, as he walks you through the magical process of carving a spoon. It's fun and relaxing, even beginners can pick it up with ease!
With help from Ben, you will follow the journey from freshly felled log to spoon, while learning loads of woodworking techniques along the way.
Guided every step of the way, you can be sure you're in safe hands. This small woodworking project is a great way to jump into a hands-on hobby in a welcoming environment with all precautions in place and the help you need. Group sizes are small so you can be sure you're getting the most personal feedback from Ben.
You'll be using only traditional techniques and tools, such as the Sloyd knife, crook knife and small carving axe. The day will be spent outdoors, or in our garden studio if the weather is wet and cold, enjoy a slice of calm as you focus on the task in hand and forget everything else for a few hours.
Breaks for tea, coffee and cake, as well as lunch are all included. We'll finish the workshop with a celebratory cold beer around the fire pit.
- Despite how it sounds this skill doesn't really rely on a massive amount of strength (technique is the key)
- This workshop is physical and can be a little hard on the hands; gel nails could be an issue!
- Suitable for 18 and over
