The first hour of the workshop we will work on practice bee samples, learning about needlefelting technique and bee anatomy. These initial pieces will be kept by Lydia who will add them to a growing installation which will form part of an exhibition in Somerset in 2022. Then we will begin working on your own intricate bee buttons or brooches using different coloured wool, needlefelting techniques and stitch.
Suitable for beginners or those looking to improve their skills.
Lydia Needle is a textile artist based in Somerset who works with wool, needlefelt and stich. The main focus of her work is sculpting in wool to create lifelike animal commissions and one off art pieces plus needle felt kits and classes. She loves what she does and tries to encourage others to try out needle felting – it’s a great craft: so easy, so pleasurable, so therapeutic. At the moment she is working on a project all about Britain’s beautiful bees called FIFTY BEES and it is that that she is bringing to Wonderwool’s Woolschool.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
