Sketching with the Field Studies Council
X

Description

Taking inspiration from the historical setting of Flatford Mill, tutor Carole Massey will show you how to translate these delightful surroundings into sketches and pen & wash studies.

The course will cover buildings and perspective, elements of the landscape, as well as figures - all the skills needed to fill your sketchbook.

We will be using both waterproof and water soluble pens with watercolours and/or water soluble pencils and working outdoors, weather permitting.

Carole Massey is a popular and versatile tutor who is in her 15th year as an Associate Tutor at Flatford Mill in 2017. She has written many books, appears regularly on the Sky Painting Channel (195) and is a Professional Associate of the Society for All Artists.

Flatford Mill lies at the heart of the Dedham Vale, on the banks of the River Stour near the Suffolk-Essex border.

The Centre buildings, particularly the Mill and Willy Lott’s House, are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by John Constable.

The rich mosaic of lowland landscapes, wildlife habitats and places of historic interest are all reflected in our extensive programme of courses.

The Centre is located between Colchester and Ipswich and is about 10 miles from each, approximately 2 miles from the A12.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
