I attended the one day course with no previous experience and had an amazing day. Claire was friendly and supportive and it was a very relaxing environment to be in. There was a wide range of colours to use and everyone's mosaics were beautiful and unique. It was lovely to take home a finished piece at the end of the day and I'm very happy with what I made and keen to do more. Our course was in the beautiful setting of the Martinau gardens and Claire provided a delicious lunch for us to share together. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in trying mosaics and I now feel confident to have a go on my own at home with the skills that I learnt. Thank you Claire for a wonderful day.

I had a lovely day with Claire and my daughter on the 1-day mosaic course. There was plenty of help on-hand to support with creating the perfect design. I have a touch of arthritis and Claire was helpful in breaking tiles for me as my hands got tired later in the day. It's amazing how quickly it's possible to produce something beautiful, grouted and ready to take away! A great day.

I received a voucher for the 1 day course for Christmas and was fortunate to spend the day with Claire and others on 22 June. I had some basic mosaic skills beforehand but attendees don't need them to be able to get a lot out of the course. A wide range of materials were available along with design resources to help you create your image. I set myself an ambitious target but was still able to complete in the given time. I now have a lovely piece that I have backed with felt and am using on my dining room table as a decorative plate. The day was made better yet by the location, which was Martineau Gardens in Edgbaston. The weather was glorious and we were able to sit outside in the sun to work and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch made by Claire. All in all this was a really enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone wanting to try their hand at mosaicing.

Had two wonderful, creative days making mosaics with Claire Cotterill at her studio in The Custard Factory . I’ve always wanted to learn how to make mosaics. Claire was very welcoming and the rest of the group were lovely. There were only five others , so plenty of personal attention. Lots of lovely materials to work with, and clear, patient instruction - I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved in such a short time, I made a portrait of my dog and it turned out far better than I expected ! Others made flowers, trees, house numbers – It was great to see the range and different styles of the mosaics we made. Can’t recommend enough, a really creative treat and bit of me time in my busy schedule – Thanks Claire, I’ll definitely come again !

The course was great and so were the group of people who attended it! The studio is bright, with beautiful natural light, and the choice of tesserae is amazing. Claire (the tutor) is lovely and I really enjoyed learning about how to use the indirect method.

Thank you Claire for a brilliant two days in your lovely bright/sunny workshop at the groovy Custard Factory. I was drawn to you through your stunning mosaics. Especially the chickens which are my favourites. I was delighted to try the indirect method even though it was very scary at first. I loved the atmosphere you created with your calm, friendly and very knowledgeable instruction. Nothing was too much for you. You let us be creative and individual yet solved every issue or question we asked. We had a lovely group of ladies and were allowed to plough on through lunch which I really appreciated. I will definitely come again.

I really enjoyed this weekend learnt some fantastic new skills with a lovely group of women. Claire created a wonderful environment in her studio at the custard factory which was very inspiring. Claire is clearly a gifted mosaic artist and got the balance right letting us get on with our ideas showing us new skills helping with thoughts and allowing us to go at our own pace etc wether we had no, a little or lots of experience with mosaics. She is very down to earth, friendly, keen to share her knowledge and skills and patient in answering all those questions! I am planning now to return could not give any higher recommendation. Thank you Claire from Karen
