Sheena is a positive, kind teacher. She works hard to give everyone the guidance and encouragement they need and makes classes fun and motivating. I’ve learned about so many aspects of patchwork and quilting- choosing fabrics, colours, shade matching, cutting, as well as specific patchwork and appliqué techniques.

Response from Green Man Quilts:Thank you, Sue. I really appreciate those kind words. And I am delighted that you find classes fun and motivating.
I really enjoyed the course, and found it very challenging. This had more to do with my skills and creative talent than anything.
I think it made me realise that I need to do a lot more practice of the basics which I am getting more confident it.
When life is a little less hectic I would like to join one of your classes as this would mean I got regular support and instruction.
Thank you once again. Ginny

Response from Green Man Quilts:Hi Ginny
Sheena is brilliant at conveying the common-sense approach while still encouraging to step beyond one’s comfort zone. She has the knack of congratulating success as well as focussing on areas for improvement. She’s full of hints and tips. I love my patchwork class - the fastest 2.5 hours of my week

Response from Green Man Quilts:That is so wonderful to read - thank you.
I had never attempted free motion quilting as it seemed a complicated mystery to me. Sheena's Free Motion Quilting day was amazing. It was a small group and there was plenty of time to get to grips with understanding what an important part tension plays and how this can be affected. Now that I understand and have mastered this, I feel confident to practice and incorporate this in my quilts in future. I would highly recommend Sheena's courses, there is something for every level and she covers a lot of different elements of quilting.

Response from Green Man Quilts:Understanding that your tension dial can be your friend (and is not a scary monster!) is so very important and with these newer electronic machines it is easy to forget that we are allowed to change the tension! You really did well during the day and I can't wait to see how you incorporate free motion into you work in the future.
Sheena is an excelllent teacher, enormously supportive and encouraging. I've learnt so much and enjoyed the classes so much. Highly recommended

Response from Green Man Quilts:Thank you so much for a fab review. I am so glad that you enjoy the classes
I booked a VIP 1day workshop on 15th September for a day of learning the skills and techniques of quilting. My VIP day did not disappoint! As there were only three of us (myself and two daughters), all totally new to quilting, we received lots of individual attention, so progressing through the techniques well.
Sheena is a great teacher, explaining and demonstrating carefully. She’s also brilliant at ‘sorting’ it with humour, when things go wrong, which they did!!! (I had ‘wonky’ eyes as I’d had a cataract operation only ten days before!).
I learned so much.
I was inspired to continue and finish my practice piece during the week following the course and I now can’t wait to try some more quilting. Thanks Sheena - a brilliant day...

A fabulous day constructing stars and half square triangle blocks for the surrounds. I had never used triangles before and hoped to come away from the two days a better cutter and more accurate pieces. I certainly felt that I had achieved that along with a stash of cut pieces and constructed blocks ready to be worked into a quilt top. ( I always want to make more than the time on the course allows for!) Sheena is an excellent teacher, generous with her time and support and offers many tips and hints to help us further. I left with a comprehensive set of notes confident that I could complete my rather ambitious project! Thank you Sheena, see you soon.

I booked the “free motion quilting day” as this was an area that I wanted to develop. The class was small which allowed us to have one to one tuition when r required. The day was enjoyable and being able to discuss things with other students was very helpful. Sheena had a relaxed way of teaching which made me feel that I could ask questions freely.
All in all a very good day and I came home wanting to practice and move forward with this skill .
I have booked another day with Sheena on Jelly Roll Quilts

Thoroughly enjoyed the two day course supported by Sheena's patience and inspiration.

My day of “free motion quilting” was enjoyable, informative and inspiring. Sheena has a great knack of sharing her knowledge in a humorous way. She encourages and motivates and gives tips and short-cuts to simplify tasks. The limited class size means that you get plenty of one-to-one time with Sheena as well as discussion and sharing ideas with the other students. I learned so much

I attended the Fibonacci for Quilters recently. Although I am a reasonably experienced sewer, I was a complete novice to quilting. The group was small enough that Sheena was able to give us individual help as needed and by the end of the weekend I had produced something that I will be proud to display!
Susan Bell - - #14701
Response from Green Man Quilts:It was fabulous to have you along for the weekend. You had such fabulous ideas and really worked so amazingly hard. Do send me a photo of it in situ. Well done.
I am in my second (or possibly third) year of evening classes with Sheena. She is an amazing teacher who manages to have work rounds for my many mistakes. Her projects each term have improved my skill levels as each one is different. If you are a total novice but like the idea of quilting, Sheena's courses are just for you. I would highly recommend.

This course certainly lived up to its title! Lots of instruction in machine quilting with time to practise quilting in the ditch, straight and wavy lines and spiralling within a geometric shape - and I got the maths! Sheena demonstrated free motion stitching and gave us time to practise. We were shown and helped to layer up our quilt tops in preparation for quilting. All of this was accompanied by examples and handouts. We were all given individual help and support too. The preparation and planning that Sheena does to deliver these excellent courses is outstanding. I have the confidence to take my quilting forward. Thank you Sheena. Looking forward to November.

I thoroughly enjoyed the "Get that quilt finished" course with Sheena. I loved experimenting with the walking foot and free machine quilting. Much more practise needed!! As always the tutition was first rate, developing my knowledge, skill set and confidence to think outside the box. Thank you Sheena

As ever so much to learn from Sheena - she is always adaptable and able to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners. Enjoyed the company and came away with many new skills.

Had a wonderful day with Sheena today. I learnt so much about my machine and how I can get so much more from it. Sheena is an exceptional teacher and makes things so much easier. I've got a lot to practise which I know I will enjoy. This was a real fun day and so enriching. Thank you so much Sheena.

Sheena is a brilliant teacher and an inspiration to me! She is so supportive and encouraging and I have achieved far more than I ever expected. It is always fun and my skills have grown weekly. A world of colour and imagination which enriches your life.

Thank you Sheena for a fantastic year. I have gained an enormous amount of confidence not only on how to use my sewing machine, but to tackle the different technicks of patchwork and quilting, from a very unsure beginner to someone who can't wait for next September.....bring on the " pinwheels "
