Description:

Have you ever wanted to try machine patchwork but not known how to start? One day workshops, VIP days and termly courses run in Hertfordshire.

Learn the skills required for successful machine patchwork and quilting. Suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience.

Termly Courses in Watford and Letchworth and one-to-one VIP days in Watford
A range of techniques will be covered each term culminating in a quilt or wallhanging or a range of smaller projects. The skills include rotary cutting, getting the best from your sewing machine, making colour choices, hand and machine piecing, hand and machine quilting, applique and basic construction methods.

Classes run a half day a week over 10 or 12 weeks in Watford WD17, on Tuesday evenings, 7.00 – 9.30pm and Thursday mornings, 9.30am – 12.00. Other times may be available! And in Letchworth on Tuesday mornings, 9.45 - 12.15 and Wednesday evenings 7.00 – 9.30pm.

VIP days allow you to focus on an area of your choice. Taking my lead from what you want to achieve, I will tailor the day entirely to your needs and interests.

Additionally, I run occasional workshops outside of term time at each venue. Recent workshops have included "Colour Theory for Quilters"; "Beyond the Ditch" - taking your quilting away from the ditch and taking advantage of your walking foot, decorative stitches and a host of other ideas and "Christmas Creations Table Runner". Supported UFO days where you can bring your own project and have my support are also a regular event.

Classes in Watford are very small (maximum of 4 people in each class) so that you get lots of individual attention and opportunities to develop at your own pace.

In Letchworth, classes take place at The Settlement, a wonderful independent Adult Education centre, and are for a maximum of 12 people.

Contact me to find out more.
Price is dependent upon the number of weeks in the term, and is in the range of £180 - £200

What's included in the price?

All tuition, relevant supporting worksheets and a steady supply of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. (Nominal contribution for refreshments in Letchworth)
You will need to provide your own fabrics

I am in my second (or possibly third) year of evening classes with Sheena. She is an amazing teacher who manages to have work rounds for my many mistakes. Her projects each term have improved my skill levels as each one is different. If you are a total novice but like the idea of quilting, Sheena's courses are just for you. I would highly recommend.

Had a wonderful day with Sheena today. I learnt so much about my machine and how I can get so much more from it. Sheena is an exceptional teacher and makes things so much easier. I've got a lot to practise which I know I will enjoy. This was a real fun day and so enriching. Thank you so much Sheena.

Sheena is a brilliant teacher and an inspiration to me! She is so supportive and encouraging and I have achieved far more than I ever expected. It is always fun and my skills have grown weekly. A world of colour and imagination which enriches your life.

Thank you Sheena for a fantastic year. I have gained an enormous amount of confidence not only on how to use my sewing machine, but to tackle the different technicks of patchwork and quilting, from a very unsure beginner to someone who can't wait for next September.....bring on the " pinwheels "

Just completed another term working with Sheena.
Brilliant teacher, always encouraging and never makes you feel anything less than wonderful, even when you have made a bit of a dog's breakfast.
Looking forward to next term already.
