Bob Crooks reviewed: Blacksmithing experience - spend a day in the forge

Deana H reviewed: Art Fun Spinning - Squeegee - Adult Saturday

"Unfortunately although the organiser was very friendly everything was totally disorganised. If the tutor had ever done squeegee art she showed no examples and just talked about the fun of doing it - nobody was happy with the mess they made with everyone making telling eye contact but trying to be nice about it. Sadly a waste of money and also we were squeezed onto tables with no elbow room. V disappointing and first class I have gone to that has left me wanting to do a negative review. The lady I also treated to the class felt exactly the same."

Aztec Kreative Studio responded:

"Thank you for your feedback, and I’m genuinely sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. I always welcome the opportunity to address any concerns at the time, as my aim is for everyone to leave feeling inspired and encouraged. This particular class was held as part of a larger event rather than in a studio setting, so space was more limited than usual, I completely understand how that may have affected your enjoyment, and I’m sorry for any inconvenience it caused. Just to clarify, I’ve been practising squeegee art for several years and have delivered a number of workshops. While this style of art is intentionally loose and expressive, I do appreciate that it’s not for everyone. As a gesture of goodwill, I’ve refunded one of the bookings."

Michael reviewed: Damascus Steel Knife forging

"After having been surprised by my son Gareth at xmas by the gift of making a Demarcus knife I have to give thanks to Alex for which can only be said was a fantastic weekend. Your dedication to making the experience informative, inviting and fun was second to none. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere with plenty of cuppas and biscuits made for a great 2 days. Your knowledge and ability to explain exactly what was needed to achieve the outcome we were hoping for was brilliant. I would definitely recommend Hammer and Hound to anyone who is thinking of partaking in a blacksmiths/forging experience. We will definitely booking again in the future. "

Katie Koehler reviewed: Epoxy Resin Art Masterclass: Seascapes

"The seascape resin workshop was fantastic. Just a small group of us and Richard explained things well and was happy to answer all our myriad questions very patiently! He explained things well and kept checking to ensure we had understood before moving on to the next thing. He was encouraging of our efforts and on hand if we needed any assistance. I can thoroughly recommend this course and am very happy with the items I made."

Annie Cholewa reviewed: Brushmaking

"I can highly recommend this course. After being given a solid foundation in the basics - the different wood and bristle options, drilling the holes and then stitching the fibres in place with wire or thread - participants are free to continue under close guidance or to follow their own path and test the boundaries of what’s possible. The tutor's are generous with their knowledge and their enthusiasm for their craft is infectious. I’m already looking forward to the advanced skills course promised for next year."

Sarah Kelsall-Patel reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"With temperatures reaching 32 outside imagine what it was like with 5 furnaces going all day. We hammered and sweated all day under the expert help of Ady and Andy. We were fed and watered thanks to Debbie. Went home with 2 flowers, of which very proud, and a few blisters but what a fantastic day. Thank you for keeping Heritage Crafts alive. Roll on the swift challenge. "

Karen Brammer reviewed: Scything at Greenwood Days

"The course was full of information which was presented in a hands-on practical way. Steven gave individual advice to each of us as and when it was needed but also allowed us time to practise the skills he had taught. The actual scything , in a field, was the highlight, if exceptionally hot. Lots of water and rests to hone our blades made it eadier to cope. The therapeutic effect of the motion of scything combined with seeing the grass cut down was extremely satisfying. The woodland setting for the course, along with soup and drinks being provided on the camp fire, made it a beautiful setting to find out about the act of scything from a much simpler time. A big thank you to both Peter and Steven for their friendly , welcoming approach."
