Pippa reviewed: Large human sculpture kit (50cm)

"This was such a wonderful gift for my 16 year old grandson. He had just finished his GCSEs, and was very pleased to enjoy some creative time to chill after the stress of exams! The materials arrived promptly, well packaged, and with very clear and easy to follow instructions. The video is such a fab idea! I will certainly look to purchase more craft kits in the future. Thank you, Jo, for such a great service from start to finish."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for the Human Kit Pippa. You sent me photos of the sculpture your son made - just wonderful! Thank you for mentioning the video - I sometimes cannot sleep well, and actually made most of this one in the early hours of a winters night! Wishing your son a fabulous future with a nod to creativity in whatever he does 🤗. Jo x"

April Brunt reviewed: Introduction to Woodturning - Full Day

"An outstanding experience from start to finish! A great value for money and worth every penny. Rick's teaching was clear, expert, and incredibly supportive, especially for my father, who has diminished eyesight. He was guided with care and encouragement throughout. The facilities were excellent, easy to find, and beautifully equipped. We were looked after brilliantly all day, especially with it being a boiling hot day, we had lots of snacks and drinks on hand throughout the day as well as a delicious lunch provided. We did a spindle session in the morning where we created Beech plant dibbers and in the afternoon we got to turn a wooden bowl of our choice of wood blank. We left the day with two finished projects each and a newfound appreciation of the skills required to turn a lump of wood into something beautiful. Rick makes it look so easy! A thoroughly enjoyable and memorable day - thanks to Rick, his wife Alison and their adorable dog Louis."

Rick Dobney Woodturning responded:

"Thank you very much for your kind review April, I'm so pleased that you and your Dad had a memorable day and successful introduction to woodturning. You now have a couple of excellent keepsakes to add to your collection of reminders of craft days together....you should be proud of your achievements, particularly on such a hot day. Thanks again for booking your day with us...very best wishes Rick, Alison and Louis "

Keith Hill reviewed: Mig Welding For Beginners Introductory Day Course.

"I’ve just completed the Beginners welding course with Tony. His one to one tuition was hugely successful. Tony is kind, witty and a patient teacher. I’d never welded before. Tony explained the various types of welds and kit, after 4 1/2 hours he had me successfully welding different pieces of steel together, and has given me a great feel for the skill. I thoroughly recommend Tony’s course for any beginner who wants hands on experience - my next step which welding set to buy?? Thanks Tony!"

Newport Wrought Ironwork responded:

"Greet meeting you Keith, I am extremely glad that you enjoyed the welding course and hope you purchase your own equipment and continue to improve your new skills. Please keep me updated on your progress and if I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me. Regards Tony "

Paul Hayward reviewed: Greenwood carving at Sallerton Wood

"Thoroughly enjoyed this relaxed but focused course. Andy is knowledgeable and informative and is attentive his students giving advice when asked but not interfering with what you are doing. He will demonstrate the next step but let you continue on your own once you have the understanding needed. All equipment is sharpened ready to hand. You are left with a hand made product to be proud of however unique it may be and an imersive experience to remember. I will be back for more."

"Thank you very much indeed, Paul, for your positive and enthusiastic response to the course. Your kind words about the tuition are very much appreciated - thank you. We're pleased that your experience has inspired you to return for another course with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Sallerton Wood when you return."

Gaz Birtles reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"I am a musician, not a carpenter, with very basic home DIY skills. But I had a fantastic day learning new skills with some beautiful old tools to make a very useable, rustic 3 legged stool. Ian was a great instructor and the whole day was very chilled and a lot of fun as well as being very therapeutic. Whittling down Ash branches into stool legs. Brilliant. I would highly recommend this and any of his woodworking courses. "

"This was a great experience, Jamal is a true craftsman and shared his journey and experience, explaining the steps to make stained glass. Gill reviewed: Fused glass workshop - Plymouth

"This was such a great workshop. Sheena is a really good teacher - we were all beginners, and she gave us all the instruction and explanation that we needed of how to properly and safely use the tools & glass. She was always ready with suggestions and help if we needed, & she created a friendly & fun atmosphere. Our fused glass pieces will be ready to collect this week, & it's quite exciting to find out how they've turned out. I'd recommend Sheena's workshops to anyone, & I hope to go to another one sometime soon."

Juliet Wareham reviewed: Lino Print, Multi Layer/Reduction Print Making Day

"What a great way to spend a Sunday! The studio itself was amazing; masses of room, lots of equipment, but best of all, floor to ceiling windows looking over the glorious Dorset countryside! Josie was a wonderful tutor; very friendly and laid back - almost like a friend chatting away to us ( and providing us with lunch!). It wasn’t until I got home that I realised how much Josie had taught me. I loved every minute of the course."

Rich Byatt reviewed: Mixed Media Sculpture Workshop

"I had a great time exploring wire frameworks with resin fabric augmentation, and polystyrene form coated in plaster. All new to me - having taken an idea of what I'd like to produce Melanie was very helpful in suggesting materials and approaches. Melanie was working on her own project (I was the only attendee on this workshop) but still very attentive to check progress, make suggestions, provide helpful assistance/demonstration, encourage and hold interesting conversation. It was a warm day, the studio was very light and not too hot, and the time flew by - Melanie was very generous to allow me to complete both pieces to a satisfactory level. Very enjoyable day; thoroughly recommend."
