Sue Burgess reviewed: Seat caning for beginners

"I was delighted with my Birthday present, my husband treated me to a caning course. Edward is a very good tutor and explained the step by step process. You work at your own pace and Edward is happy to go back and explain again if you get stuck. I found Edwards aproach to teaching the art of caning very proffesional and relaxed at the same time. This is a dying craft, so well done to Edward for passing his knowledge forward. Definately well worth doing. Thank you Sue"

Heather Jolley reviewed: Silver Clay Christmas fun two days workshop.

"This course is amazing, Ana is such a knowledgeable person. Kind and considerate with lots of stories from her years of experience. A warm welcome awaits you on this magical adventure, and it is a pure magical experience, starting off with something you’ve made in what is seemingly clay, watching it turn in to fine silver. I totally get the science behind the process but still it blows my mind. Ana you are an amazing person and I look forward to taking more of your courses and learning from your vast experience and wealth of knowledge xx "

A CAT Jewellery responded:

"Hi Heather Thank you so much for such wonderful review. It was a pleasure to show you the basics and some of the more advanced skills. You weren't deterred by difficulty of some of techniques and made some intricate pieces which you should be very proud. It was lovely to meet you. Looking forward to our next class. xx "

Colin Groombridge reviewed: Box making weekend

"This is the second course I have attended with Andrew this year in his relaxing and well equipped workshop which, in itself, is testament to how enjoyable an experience it is. Andrew caters for everyone, from beginners to those with more experience, and though this course is only 2 days you get to cover plenty of ground such as how to bookmatch veneer for the lid, how to glue the box together using a simple jig to ensure it is square, how to use a router to cut slots for the hinges ensuring that fitting the lid is a simple process and, of course, using his favourite hand tool, a scraper, to prepare the surfaces to take a finish. At the end of the course you take away the box plus enough suede to enable completion at home. I would highly recommend this course and am already making plans to book another course for next year."

smartBoxmaker responded:

"Hi, Colin - I'm glad you enjoyed the course, and thanks for your kind words! The workshop is even better equipped now having just been completely rewired! I look forward to seeing you again in 2026 for the next one ..."

Zak & Amy reviewed: Two day Leaded Stained Glass panel making.

"Laura is an incredibly inviting and friendly host who offers a fantastic and affordable course which I would absolutely recommend to anyone. We took this course as an opportunity to do something different for our anniversary, and came away with two fantastic mementos! Having no experience we did wonder how we would get on, but Laura offers an absolute wealth of knowledge and tips, which got us up and running in no time. We both brought our own designs and whilst one wasn’t suitable, she offered insightful and useful information as to how it could be made suitable, which as artists keen to try, was very useful. She also had some fantastic recommendations for places to eat on your break, and place to look if your interested in glass. 10/10 would absolutely do again!"

Laura Barnes Crafty Fox Studios responded:

"Thank you so much, Zak! What a great 2 days we had. I really enjoy passing on these techniques and both of you took to it very quickly. Well done and you are welcome anytime. All my best to you, Laura "

Helen Morgan reviewed: SAORI weaving taster session

"I thoroughly recommend Amanda’s 2 hour Saori weaving session, even if you’ve done some traditional weaving before. I found the Saori philosophy refreshingly inspiring - encouraging inner creativity and expression (that I find can be difficult to access) to evolve into a lovely weaving sample to take home. I’m looking forward to booking a day course to continue learning about the Saori techniques."

Anita reviewed: Stained Glass Panel Workshop with April Pebble

"I had a great day last Saturday learning how to make a stained glass leaded panel. April is very relaxed & supportive, always there to help & encourage you. It was a small group & we all went away very pleased with our panels. April had a good choice of coloured glass with all types of textures & patterns. One of our group made a mirror. The workshop has a wonderful creative feel. I came away feeling relaxed & happy, & ready to learn more. The cafe next door was an added bonus with customers enjoying the sun with delicious food & drink. I thoroughly recommend anyone thinking of joining one of April’s workshops."

Job reviewed: Portrait Paintings in Oils

"Did Lee's three day oil painting course earlier in the month. My first time using this medium, it all felt very new and bewildering at first, but thanks to Lee's guidance and expert skill, I worked through my frustration and managed to produce a decent piece of art at the other end. Atmospheric old school building-turned studio set in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Would definitely do this course again."
