Half Day Taster Stained Glass Workshop - for 121, 2 or 3 (friends)

Description

Have you ever wanted to create your own personalised stained glass piece? We'll show you how! No experience required Choose from: - 121 workshop - for 2 (with a friend) - for 3 (with 2 friends) Tutor: Ruth Summers - creating bespoke glass art since 1998. Ruth runs workshops teaching the skills of stained glass where you can create your own small copper foiled stained glass creation or unique sun-catcher of your choice which you can take home with you at the end of the day. Prior to the workshop we will work together to design your glass piece so your pattern is ready to be brought to life on the day. We do also have some designs ready to choose from if you prefer. We usually limit the design of your piece to a max of 4/5 pieces to ensure your project is completed in the time. Start times for the 3 hour Taster Workshop are usually: - 9am or 2pm on Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 5pm, 6pm or on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday Can't see a date or time that works for you? We can be flexible and may have other dates/times available, please do get in touch with the 'message the tutor' button to arrange. Finish times for all workshops are flexible to ensure your creation is complete on the day, so do allow for a little additional time if required

All materials are included in the price Refreshments available: tea, coffee and a selection of herbal teas Free on road parking Situated in the idyllic village of Rottingdean, Brighton in our peaceful garden studio, with Kipling Gardens, Grange Museum & Art Gallery, Beacon Hill Windmill and Nature Reserve, beach, shops, cafes and pubs nearby Please note: We ask that you wear comfortable clothing with flat covered footwear. Due to the materials used, this course is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. We use very hot soldering irons when soldering the glass pieces together

I am a glass artist who's been designing and creating bespoke contemporary stained glass commissions since 1998. I love to create glass pieces that are pulled in from the things around me that inspire me in life. I would love to help you create your own glass piece of your choice to take home with you at the end of our workshop together. "I thoroughly enjoyed my first lesson with Ruth – the 3 hour taster 1-2-1 workshop. It was so interesting and such fun that time flew by. The session was very easy going and at each stage of the process everything was well explained and demonstrated. I learnt lots and had fun along the way. Ruth is patient and explains everything so well and gives you the confidence and encouragement to do well. Her pace is spot on and the facilities are excellent. I enjoyed the course so much I have booked my next session, a full day 1-2-1! I have sent her my next design so that Ruth can design and have the pattern ready and I’m look forward to creating my next challenge to see how far I can stretch myself and have fun and confidence along the way."

"Thank you so much Ruth for a perfectly relaxed 3 hour 1-1 glass art starter session that I purchased for my partner. He really enjoyed it, and was very impressed with the tulip you helped him to create which is now hanging on our tree. I also enjoyed sitting in your garden (having a little peak occasionally!) and kept company by your lovely dogs Luna and Willow - particularly little, lively Luna! "I totally recommend this course as a wonderful way in which to explore using copper foil and creating a beautiful piece under the guidance of Ruth. From the start to finish of the day Ruth was patient, helpful and guided me through making a beautiful dragonfly. I was guided through the steps of cutting glass, to grinding, foiling and then soldering and found each process fascinating in its own right. Ruth was happy to help me solve any problems I encountered. It was a pleasure to spend the day in her workshop and even more so to go home with a beautiful piece of work to remind me of my day. As a result of the day and Ruth's encouragement got the 'bug' and will carry on learning more about the art of working with stained glass. Thank you Ruth for the best day I have had in a long time."
