karin Mark reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"Absolutely loved the course. Lucy is a good Tutor and excellent host . I am very pleased with the result of my project , which was upholstering an 100 year old dining room chair. Lucy's advise not to paint the chair but just strip it down to the natural wood proved right. My 17 year old daughter also enjoyed it very much and felt treated as an adult. Thank you"

Georgie Oldroyde reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I arrived in some trepidation, not really believing I had it in me to sufficiently master the tools and techniques required to come away with something of which I could be proud.....but I was proved totally wrong and it is a tribute to Peter's teaching skills and the careful structure of the course that the outcome for all attending was such a great success. Both Peter and his trusty assistant, Jav (sp?) exercised great patience and good humour, balancing helpful interventions whilst encouraging autonomy - their graceful use of the different tools that shaped our work was such a contrast to my own clumsy attempts, but they never cast a value judgement upon that, which was what helped to make the course such an enriching experience in so many ways. My husband and I returned home with a stool and small table respectively and even our teenagers let slip some admiration for our efforts."

"My experience is this college was awesome! Especially the staff in the access department. The staff supported me tremendously and went beyond what is required of them to ensure I achieved my grades for university. They took all my personal circumstances into consideration, and I never felt judged just empowered. Incredible college due to the staff!"

Kim reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"Superb day in every way! This was my first visit to Lucy's and was a bit nervous but Lucy is so friendly and welcoming and her knowledge is exceptional; she is full of patience and whilst I was concentrating on my project ( a Roman blind) Lucy manages to advise / assist the other ladies but was always on hand to answer questions or help out. We all had different projects and it was great seeing other people's ideas. I managed to go home with a completed blind and the confidence to make more. We were also spoilt with lovely home cooked lunch with plenty of tea and cakes. A thoroughly relaxing day which I hope to repeat again soon."

Chris Yeardsley reviewed: One-to-one mount cutting for your next exhibition

"I attended Lynne's course in January 2017. My aim was to learn enough skills to mount my paintings in both acrylics and pastels in order to display them effectively. The information and and direction provided was first class and I was able by the end of the day to have completed the mounts for three paintings. In addition the environment in Lynne's studio was excellent and the working conditions comfortable and conducive for the purpose required. I now feel I have the necessary confidence to tackle any of my future needs and perhaps help friends and family if they would like a favourite photo or painting mounted."

Nick Massey reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"A really terrific day's instruction. I purchased a second hand Axminster lathe and desperately needed some practical advice. I've never had any experience whatsoever. A good friend recommended Chris. He had attended the one day course and was extremely positive. Chris is a real treasure. Apart from being an extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled practitioner, his ability to instruct is super. The approach and advice in terms of overall safety was exactly what I wanted since I hadn't laid hands on my lathe since purchase....being somewhat nervous that I might do something daft!! With Chris's careful instruction, I managed to create a fine sycamore bowl which will hopefully be the first of one or three. I was also given much advice and help in terms of what tools I needed and hands-on demonstration re sharpening and care. It's a lot to absorb in one day and I intend to return once I've dipped my feet into some investigation/ creation (!!) in my garage. Fabulous day and very much recommended."
