About the Course
Ever fancied trying out traditional upholstery? One day upholstery workshop in West Wales with 'Make it in Wales' - take home the beautiful upholstered stool you created yourself!
We are running a one-day workshop with Mick. Mick works with wonderful Welsh and vintage fabrics. The workshop will take place at Cardigan Pizza Tipi.
You will learn from the great Master himself and will upholster a milking stool using Welsh woollen fabrics. The seat cover will be stuffed with horse-hair and hand stitched to a piped edging.
What will you learn on the course?
You will learn upholstery stuffing techniques: stuffing, tying, regulating, finishing, how to make tack piping
What will the day involve?
10 am start – discussion and selection of fabric (you will have several designs to choose from); make and attach piping; attach hessian, stitch bridle ties, start stuffing
Finish stuffing and regulate; finish ‘in skin’ wadding and skewer fabric in place; slip-stitch piping and finish
(Each stage will be demonstrated by Mick)

One of the most enjoyable courses I've been on.
A completely new craft for me, we were able to experience a number of traditional upholstery processes, and our finished stools will be treasured forever I'm sure. Beautiful little items.
The location at cardigan Pizza Tipi was perfect for me. Close to home and a beautiful setting to enjoy a delicious lunch with new friends on the riverbank.

A thoroughly enjoyable day spent learning a new skill.
A lovely relaxed setting added to the overall enjoyment. Delicious food at the Pizza Tipi, somewhere I will definitely be visiting again.
Clear instructions with plenty of time for questions resulted in a really impressive upholstered stool which I love!

Had a great day feeling fully immersed and learning a completely new skill. Covering the stool was straightforward enough to be doable, but still a really satisfying process explained very clearly. I'm very proud of what I achieved. The location was beautiful and refreshments flowed freely all day: fresh pizza for lunch was delicious. A really well-organised, well-run course which has inspired me to try a bit more upholstering!

A lovely day. Clear and friendly instruction, beautiful location, and by the end of the day - a beautiful little stool to be proud to take home.
I was quite surprised, and pleased, that there was such a large variety of high end fabrics to choose from - we were spoiled for choice
