Helen Stenson reviewed: Oval shallow basket for the garden at New barn at Usk Castle Chase,Monmouthshire

"A great day spent willow weaving and very happy with my first attempts. Plenty of fresh willow for the whole class and we were working in a very atmospheric old barn. Tuition was clear, a demonstration of each step given and Amanda ensured nobody was left behind. I would certainly go on another course with Wyldwoodwillow."

James reviewed: Four day intensive beginners woodwork course

"I completed the 4 day intensive course at the start of march. its a very good course. Ciarán is an excellent teacher and deserves the full 5 star rating and that doesn't include being fuelled by all the teas, coffees and biscuits he plied us with. The course and Ciarán has spurred me on into taking up woodworking as a hobby, and to possibly take it further later on. I'm now making a jointer plane with ash from Potters and some mahogany I got from the local amenity tip! The next job will be a workbench :) Thanks Ciarán, much appreciated. PS. good tip on Roys Relics, I picked up a No.3 and a No.4 1/2 Bailey along with a couple of other bits :)"

Martin Chapman reviewed: Introduction to traditional green wood turning course

"Simon is a very good teacher, a real expert and enthusiast for his craft, and provided an excellent introduction to green wood turning. The location is excellent, a woodland compound - with plenty of shelter - and tea. I use power lathes, but found many of his tips useful for any lathe. A very worthwhile day."

Rian reviewed: Introduction to traditional green wood turning course

"I just finished Simon's introduction to Traditional Green Wood Turning Course and loved it. Simon was very patient and thoughtful in his approach to teaching. He taught and emphasized safe tool then his nice calm teaching style was used in the actual functional wood working techniques. Clear demonstrations were the beginning then observations of our attempts with helpful tips when needed. Simon was always available for questions and happy to assist if issues arose. The day flew by and at the end I have something that I was quite happy with and can use - great stuff!!"

Lynette Chettle reviewed: 121 - An Introduction to Cold Process Soap Making

"I attended Soapology for the full day One to One Introduction to Cold Processed Soap course in April to gain additional knowledge on Natural Soaps for my business (I sell Soaps and Bath Treats). The whole day totally exceeded all my expectations. Informative, educational and completely enjoyable. Each stage was excellently delivered by Emma in a friendly but competent manner, no question was too silly to ask or repeat (sorry). I am a complete beginner and I'm not a craft person at all but even I didn't struggle. I left with Four soap loaves safely tucked away in my boot, which, after curing, I can't wait to try. Patchouli and orange, May Chang and Lemon Swirl, Pine and Lime Swirl and Peppermint and Lemon Layered. I will definitely be booking the Advanced course in the very near future, once I've put into practice all I learned on the day. Highly recommended."

Edward Hall reviewed: Introduction to Spoon Carving

"A thoroughly enjoyable day, thank you Chris. The time flew by and I have my first spoon as proof of my closely tutored handiwork, of which I am quite proud! A long way to go before the solution to family Christmas presents is achieved, but the start of a life long hobby. Great setting, (and bird life), Mum's lunch, tea cakes, and careful patient instruction. I strongly recommend this day to anyone who wants to learn to be creative, with wood."

steve partridge reviewed: Annie Sloan Method with Chalk Paint for Upcycling Furniture at La Di Da Interiors - The Basics

"I'm not a beginner to upcycling furniture. But, I am a beginner to upcycling with Annie Sloan paints. The course was excellent and introduced me to new painting techniques including using wax in conjunction with paint. The course was well structured and delivered in a relaxed/fun atmosphere by Steph, who has whetted my appetite to use my newly acquired skills and Annie Sloan paints in the near future. I'm sure my home and immediate family will benefit from what I have learned. Steve Partridge"

U.O. reviewed: Fabulous fused glass jewellery for beginners

"I really enjoyed the class. It was a great refresher for me but I also learnt a lot of things I didn't know before. Eleanor is very knowledgeable and has a great teaching style. She really took the time to try to explain things. The day was very well structured. There were a great range of samples to showcase different techniques and ideas. The studio is also well equipped with lots of different types of glass to try. It was a really fun day which sped by all too quickly."

Barry lyon reviewed: Blacksmith forgework Learning Experience Day

"I have always fancied having a go at blacksmithing as a hands on mechanical engineer but never did anything about it. My daughter as a surprise booked for me and daughter with cowpe smithy. Rob and Darren were great, showed us a number of techniques and explained the basics. Being technically minded and interested in details rob and Darren were able to answer our questions. The course gave a good intro and the coke rake i made is now used on my own forge. Rob helped me with that. The course also included being looked after foodwise by robs wife ; who made us a fabulous dinner and supplied teas and coffee on the Cold rainy day. Following my daughter and I bought a forge and now practice the art of metal forging. Rob and Darren post course have helped with tips and sharing expertise. If you are interested in blacksmithing pick cowpe smithy....really glad we did. You will not be disappointed....Rob knows about history of the art too.for me this was a bonus...I could have spent a week with Rob finding out more. In a nutshell...brilliant!!!"

"I did a 3 day one to one workshop with Jolene and had an absolutely wonderful time. Jolene is a fantastic teacher, patient, inspiring, helpful - I was able to learn and practice a variety of techniques and given the freedom to experiment with my own designs. I highly recommend the workshops to those that have a particular interest in this field and also those who would like to have a great time making some beautiful pieces."

David Bedding reviewed: Wood carving for beginners and improvers at Ness Botanic Gardens Cheshire

"For anyone who is thinking of taking up woodcarving, or has started and wants to get some coaching then this is one of the best ways to do it John is an excellent teacher. He has great patience and unfailing good humour His explanations are clear and easy to follow and he always seems to be on hand to assist anyone who is finding anything a little difficult to do. Everything is provided - including tools if you don't have any of your own. You start by practicing the ‘basic’ cuts but soon move on to making recognisable shapes On the second day you move on to carving an owl starting with the explanation of how to mark out the piece of wood ready to carve. Getting the carving fully finished does require concentrated effort but it is well worth it to take home a completed piece and leaves the beginner with a great sense of achievement."
