Nick Smith reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"My 16 year old son and I had a fantastic day together with Mort. Mort was an excellent teacher and was very patient with me as I whacked away and pieces of red hot steel. We both thoroughly enjoyed our day and would recommend Mort unreservedly. Excellent value for money. My son was so inspired by Mort that is now intending to take up blacksmithing as a hobby. It was very clear from the samples he showed us that Mort is a highly skilled blacksmith who produces work of the highest quality. I made a wall mounted candle holder that will take pride f place in my home."

Sally-Anne reviewed: Needle felting - half day - feather felts

"Spent an inspirational afternoon with Jane where she explained in great detail wet felting techniques - I had many questions!! I also learnt how to translate the image from a photograph into a felted scene as she knows so much about design and is more than happy to share this. She showed great patience and allowed me to create with supportive guidance. Thank you Jane, I hope to provide you with some images of my creations once the merino colour arrive :-)"

Mary Gray reviewed: Group Soap-making Workshop - Soapology Studio - Nottinghamshire

"For my Birthday my children gave me a Soapology Voucher, I attended a full day course last Saturday at Emma's Studio in Farndon and had an absolutely brilliant day. Emma has a wealth of knowledge and is passionate about her craft, her patient and encouraging teaching style made it easy for me to learn and understand so much about the art of soap making during the day, along with the three batches of soap which I made, we were also given course notes to take home, these will be very useful for referral in the future. I treated myself to a 'kit' too so that I can make more soap this week (already thinking of new fragrance combinations). Emma provide a super lunch and offered lots of refreshments during the day. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone. Thank you Emma, hope to see you again soon."

Christine Clarkson reviewed: Art & Craft Days - Christmas Wreaths & Swags – Willow

"The whole workshop from start to finish was thoroughly enjoyable. The class is small, enabling one to one help and advice. Deb Hart is an excellent teacher, informative, chatty and extremely knowledgeable. The finished product is lovely, and much better than I was expecting it to be. The surroundings are clean and comfortable, showcasing many of the other crafts on offer. The welcome shown by Brian and Julie together with the fantastic food they produce was brilliant. It is the second workshop I have attended at the Butterfly Studio, and have recommended it to so many people. The willow basket day was a birthday present for one of my daughters as she had just moved away and, knowing how much she enjoys art and crafts, we wanted her to have a lovely day, but also to have something at the end of it to keep. All in all, it was perfect. Our other daughter has already dropped hints that her birthday is coming up!"

Valerie reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"Lots of individual attention from Elaine which led to fast progress. However many online videos or books you read it can't match learning off an expert. Shown how to set up my spinning wheel and help with problem solving so I could get it working properly (which it is now). Range of processes and skills shown and Elaine has a flexible friendly approach, thank you very much."

Edwina & Lynda reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"Mum and I had a fantastic time learning how to spin. Dunja is a great teacher very patient and clear. Mum was impressed at how Dunja even manged to get me spinning as it's a family joke how I'm useless at anything practical!!! I booked the course as a present for my mum's birthday and she has said without a doubt it was her best present and experience. We are definitely hooked on spinning now and are eagerly practising before booking our next course. Thank you so much Dunja see you soon :)"

Highly recommend doing this short course if you feel like re-igniting your craft skills and feeling really productive by the end of the day."

Lindsey Gardner reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"My husband and I spent a wonderful day with Graham learning wood turning skills. Graham is an excellent teacher, telling us all about the properties of different kinds of wood and their suitability for wood turning. We were shown how to operate the lathe and which tools to use to produce certain finishes. By the end of the day we had each made a beautiful bowl and candlestick. We enjoyed the day immensely and recommend the course to anyone looking to learn more about this interesting hobby."

Steve reviewed: Wood turning courses

"Today has been an amazing day with great tuition from George and great hospitality. George and Susan are very welcoming and warming. The tuition provided has been relaxed and very informative with a good direction in woodturning basics in view to making a very splendid bowl that looks professionally made. To be able to go from novice, to being able to turn a bowl within a day shows the quality and professionalism of George's teaching. I look forward to booking further lessons so that I can progress my skills in bowl turning and other future project ideas."

Richard Taylor reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"As a college technician, I had some basic experience of woodturning, but wanted to develop my skills much further both for my job and personal interest. Mark's great attention to detail, experience and organised way of running the day meant that we covered a lot of ground over the course of the day. Gaining knowledge of sharpening and maintaining tools was really valuable to me, something I knew little about before. I feel that I am not just a safer wood turner knowing the right way to use the tools, but also have a wider horizon on where myself and the students I help can take woodturning and the potential it offers looking at the sort of work Mark creates. I would recommend Mark's tuition to anyone, but if you work in education, I would say this level of detailed excellent training is vital particularly from a safety perspective."

Richard Morgan reviewed: Beginners 10 week woodworking course NO LONGER RUNNING

"I’ve just completed the 10 week beginners course. I was really impressed with Ciaran’s knowledge, he is a great teacher and a true craftsman. There is a really friendly, easy going atmosphere in the work shop. With only 5 people on the course, Ciaran is able to spend plenty of time with each person if needed. I’d highly recommend the beginners course to anyone who is interested in taking up wood working. Ciaran will show you the basics and give you the confidence to create your own pieces. I’m enrolled on the next wood turning course and will definitely be booking onto the intermediate course in the near future. Thank you Ciaran."

Gary Berntsen reviewed: A fabulous introduction to fused glass - one day course

"What a fantastic day. This was my second course with Siobhan and yet again she was full of support and knowledge of her craft. It's a day where I simply switch off from the normal day to day stuff and get the chance to relax and express myself in my own way. The courses, facilities and the buffet lunch are all top notch and brilliant value for money. Then there is Siobhans wicked since of humour which completes a perfect day. Thank you for another great day and I will be back !!"

Liz Strong reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"This really was a great day!, Steve was welcoming from the start and encouraging without being prescriptive. He is passionate about his craft and his enthusiasm is infectious, his approach was relaxed and made everyone in the group feel valued. The group size was small enough to allow plenty of individual attention and everyone came out with surprisingly good results."
