About the Course
One day shoe making course in the historic market town of Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
The course is led by Judi Cook an award winning shoe designer, who has worked for internationally renowned footwear companies in the UK and abroad. She has also lectured at Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University).
The course is for ladies with no prior knowledge of shoe making but who love crafting, and are handy with a pair of scissors and glue. It is a very simplified method; full instruction is given to small classes of up to 3 people. At the end of the day you will have your own pair of lightweight, leather-lined, fabric mules, with a thin EVA sole suitable for indoors or light outdoor wear. Judi wears them as "posh" slippers.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All materials and tools are supplied for the course. There are a wide selection of fabrics and leathers to choose from; but if you have a fabric of your own bring it along to see if it is suitable. Wooden lasts are supplied - I will need to know the size you require when you are booking your course.
During the day there will be mid-morning and afternoon breaks with free tea or coffee and cake. There will be a break of 45 mins for lunch, there are several delicious cafes nearby. Parking can be found on some roads free of charge, or in pay and display car parks.
If the course is already full it may be possible to organise an alternative date, or if 2 - 3 friends want to do a course together, please phone the course tutor.
Judi's one day course was fantastic, relaxing and fun, at the end of the day I took home a beautiful pair of slippers. Wirksworth in itself is a quirky village with lots of interesting shops and cafes. Highly recommend this course for its content and its surroundings.

Judi's one day workshop was just what I was looking for and more. I came from London and stayed at a lovely BB in the town, kindly recommended by Judi, only a five minutes walk in the morning. Judi was very informative, a brilliant teacher, so helpful and relaxed. All the materials were provided - cake and coffee as well. It was fabulous to finish the day with a wonderful pair of shoes. All my friends were very impressed. Thank you Judi.
