"Very enjoyable course. Well taught. Pleased with the results. Want to do more. Filled in a comprehensive assessment sheet at end of course so why is this necessary?"

Phil Millichap reviewed: Introduction to green wood furniture making - two days

"Went to build skills not a stool or low table and was not disappointed. Wood is lovely tactile material to work with given the right tools and skills. The course provides excellent opportunity to learn some of those skills and understand and use many of the tools, while many require a "knack" Peter and J provided right input at the right time! The course is hopefully a beginning, at least have ordered some of the tools!! Highly recommended."

Aimee Kirkham reviewed: Amazing encaustic art for two people Day Course

"I have just booked onto my forth workshop with Phil, which should be a testament itself to how truly amazing he is as a tutor and how enjoyable he makes wax encaustic art! Phil took me through the basics in the first couple of sessions, enabling me to create a beautiful landscape image and then we went through some experimental techniques with a heat gun, which is so much fun. He is ever so patient, explains things excellently (through demonstration and verbally) and has great wit, which makes him very easy company and his own encaustic art is unbelievable - he has a real talent. If you're anything like me, you won't just want the one session, it's such an addictive art form that I'll be continuing my sessions with Phil for as long as the bank balance allows! I 100% recommend this course for anyone who wants to try a art form that's a bit different and likes experimenting."

Colleen reviewed: Introduction to green wood furniture making - two days

"What a great way to spend a weekend. Really marvelous to see something created from a block of wood into a functioning piece of furniture. Peter and J showed huge patience and willingness to help when questions were asked and I couldn't have asked for better or more friendly instruction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone. Top marks!"

Jessica reviewed: Full day printmaking workshops

"I had such a wonderful time learning how to screen print at Kiwi. It's a lovely bright and colourful studio with very friendly and attentive teachers and technicians. Having not been a very confident drawer I was happy to learn that this wasn't a necessary skill and screen printing can be very versatile to all skill levels, I had such a great time and would recommend to anyone looking for something different to do when in Cornwall. Absolutely loved it!"

"Thoroughly enjoyed this workshop and would highly recommend. Could have stayed in Julie's lovely studio for hours on end. I am a total novice and Julie is such a brilliant teacher. She is very open about her techniques and her work is amazing. I've come away from the workshop with a piece of work that I didn't think I could do and feel really happy. My head is buzzing with ideas. Absolutely loved it and met some lovely ladies too. Thank you so much Julie xx"

Hayley reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"This was my second upholstery day with Lucy: I had progressed from footstool to dining room chair! Brilliant day: suddenly in the last hour it all comes together and we each finished our projects. Superb informal but focused day: so many tips and techniques learnt as we went along. Really lovely homemade cakes and lunch too. A day with Lucy is a great inspiration - I left with my transformed chair, motivated to get on with my next project. Thank you, thank you.."

"I took a mosaic course on Saturday and was very impressed with Catherine our teacher, as a complete beginner I wasn't sure what to expect but was soon put at ease, Catherine had lots of idea's and lots of patience. I made a sunflower amazingly it turned out ok, I am definately inspired to do more mosaic work and wished I lived nearer to Nelson and Catherine classes.. Having come all the way from Cumbria and not finding a class nearer to home, it was worth the drive. Thank you very much for a really enjoyable day. kind regards Anne"

Mal Wylde reviewed: Bespoke Contemporary Fine Art Encaustic Wax Workshop.

"We Flew over from Spain to do two days workshop with Lyn. We learned loads and cannot recommend Lyn enough. Lyn is very welcoming and has an excellent approach to teaching and sharing information. Also Lyn does not 'skimp' on equipment and materials. Nothing was too much trouble and hopefully next time we are in UK we will incorporate another workshop. A very big thanks for such an enjoyable and informative couple of days Lyn. Mal Wylde and Susan Weatherstone"

"We've just had a fantastic weekend creating our stone sculptures. It's unbelievable how, with the help of the wonderful Sebastian, you can actually achieve your goals. We were given just the right amount of guidance to really do everything we hoped for, and more. We would thoroughly recommend this course for anyone and the setting really can't be beaten."

Jane Weir reviewed: Five day woodwork course - wood

"I did wonder, when I was driving up to Cumbria to live in my van for 2 weeks in October, if I was nuts, going all that way for a woodwork course, but it was totally worth it! I am back home now, after two brilliant weeks, with two great pieces of furniture a few new skills and more of a clue what I’m doing to show for my time. Right from the start, Richard and Mark were welcoming, friendly and inclusive. They were patient, knowledgeable, good fun and supportive, with bags of experience between them and loads of tips that helped us all get the most out of the fortnight. They kept us all moving along at a pace that meant that we could all finish by Friday but still had time for questions and to learn from each other - particularly handy, as people did different projects, so it was interesting to learn from watching them. Having completed the two courses I feel like I have a lot more idea of what I need to do to get up and running in a workshop - I just need to find somewhere to host all my projects now!"

Julie Harrison reviewed: Introduction to Needlefelting

"A really inspiring day. Lynne is so creative in her art ..... and also in her home and culinary vegetarian cuisine and cakes. This is the second workshop I have attended (Rag Rugging being the 1st), and both have been as enjoyable and inspiring as each other and the atmosphere was very welcoming, and relaxing. I have acquired technique skills and "know-how" ability from both, and look forward to combining both media to create my own artworks. The food was truly delicious again, and it was interesting to meet new and artistic people. I am now hooked & have spent most evening since this workshop needle felting in front of the TV. !! As my friend Debbie said (also attending the course) "I have realised during this wonderful day, how important 'being creative' is to my general, mood & outlook on life" .... I totally agree, so thank you Lynne for an inspiring and healing day."

Richard Vickery reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"Just had a day long course with Nigel. Just awe inspiring. His enthusiasm and skills are infectious! I came home with Christmas presents I forged that I am proud of. Will definitely be booking another course. I cannot recommend this highly enough. If I had done this course 15 years ago, I would be seriously looking at changing careers - it is that inspiring!"

Susan Earnshaw reviewed: Mosaic day workshop on Orkney

"A very enjoyable day. Loved the hands on teaching and getting as messy as you like without having to worry about the furniture, which is the only way if you learn from a book! Learnt a lot about the different mosaic techniques and being able to experiment to find your own preferences is a definite advantage of doing the course. Catherine is very talented and knows her art inside out, plus a very nice lady. She made the class warm and friendly."

Jane Cunningham reviewed: Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving

"Had a really enjoyable Saturday at Hot Walls in Portsmouth on one of Alice's courses. It was lovely piecing together different colours and textures of yarn to create your very own piece of weaving to take away. I loved it, and bought a loom and will be doing something on my own as soon as I get the time. Would love to do another course."

Sharon Tew reviewed: Mosaic one day workshop for adults with Caroline Jariwala, Birmingham

"I have just completed the one day Mango Mosaics course - I can highly recommend it. Having no experience with Mosaics, I was a little apprehensive but it was a small group of 3 (there's only ever a maximum of 4 per group) and so Caroline had time to explain the process from a blank piece of plywood to finished article. You will certainly finish the day with enough skills to go away and make your own Mosaics. The course is run with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and lunch is provided (and regular tea and cake breaks!). If you're in any doubt, go ahead and book it, you won't regret it."

Viki Burton reviewed: Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving

"A great day at Alice's workshop in Portsmouth. The workshop was very informative and unrushed and we were all able to work at our own pace which allowed each of us to create a unique weaving to take home. I have been able to try out what I learnt at home and would love to come on another workshop in the future to get more ideas."

Sarah reviewed: Weekly pottery/ceramics classes

"An amazing atmosphere; Alison is warm, friendly and makes you feel at home. As a beginner, you start out making a range of basic shapes and items such as solid figurines, bowls and tiles - progressing to more complex and intricate designs. Alison allows you freedom to create, think outside of the box and play with your ideas; all whilst guiding you along the way, whenever required. Pottery and Ceramics are both a life-long career dream of mine and to be able to live it, see it, feel it and do it is amazing! If you are creative, enjoy projects and want to get lost in all things arty, this is definitely the course for you! *****"
