Iain McDowall reviewed: Fine-furniture making course - floating shelf day course in Cheshire

"I found the course excellent. David is a very good and knowledgeable teacher. The one day course gave me more than just a floating shelf. It gave me an introduction to new woodworking skills and the confidence to develop them further."

Edna reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"I'm reflecting on the tortoise and the hare. I have had two sessions recently where we have mulled over the design details of my work with some practice put in for good measure. Whilst the number of completed items may be small the devil has certainly been in the detail. If I had run ahead to complete pieces they would certainly not have turned out to be so magnificent as they have with Lucy's steady and collaborative approach with gentle questioning of my reasoning has made the difference between an average and a master class. With Lucy you have a grand master. I have already booked my next class."

Tom Moriarty reviewed: All inclusive artisan baking weekend in Devon

"We had a fantastic weekend with Penny and Dragan - lots of fun, laughter, learning, great food and, of course, baking! I'm really excited to put what I've learnt into practice and for the first time feel really confident with sourdough and viennoiserie. For me being taught by actual people was so important - you just can't get the same feel for dough and breadmaking from books. I took the course while my wife stayed as a B&B guest - their cottage is very comfortable. We felt very much at home over the two days and really enjoyed Penny's wonderful cooking. Penny and Dragan are great teachers - they are knowledgeable, welcoming, patient and passionate, and I would highly recommend their courses to anyone who wants to take their baking to the next level."

Lynda Gibbs reviewed: Intermediate glass fusing at the Cheshire School of Glass

"The two days went so quickly doing this course. I learnt so much in such a short space of time. I would highly recommend doing this course to anyone before considering getting a kiln of their own. I have done both the basic fusing and intermediate ( with a discount of 10% after completion of one course). Great facilities and a brilliant teacher."

David Heppell reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"A box making course! What do you have at the end? A box of course. But I wouldn't have expected to make a beautiful oak box (with dovetail joints) and with an elm lid (with lovely graining) supported on hidden pin hinges. Mark and Richard were excellent as they supported and guided each of us in making a box of our choice. Maybe this should be called an introduction to cabinet making for absolute beginners. Excellent!"

Silvia Siret reviewed: Peaceful Buddha sculpture - Powertex craft workshop

"I was thrilled when I found out about the Powertex Buddha Workshop. Not only had I seen Vicky's own creation (and I was ready to buy it from her), but also excited about learning another arty skill. I love Vicky's guidance and how she holds space, her creativity and inspiration. Within only 4 hours I made my own Buddha, and I totally love it. It's actually not too difficult, just quite work-intensive and sometimes a little fiddly, but no accuracy or skill is required, really. We were a lovely little group of 5, including a 10-year old who created an extraordinarily beautiful Buddha. Loved it, and will definitely come back."

Lee Hannam reviewed: Alchemy of Pigment and Pattern at SAOG Studios

"Thank you so much for last week's course, a truly wonderful weeks journey of shared knowledge and wisdom. The space was held gently and openly as we co-created our pigments and paint and put compass to paper. I feel re-enlivened to colour and to art. Every time I stir my morning coffee I am reminded - clockwise, clockwise!"

Gavin reviewed: Make a Windsor chair

"I absolutely loved this course, Ben is a great teacher, if you’re thinking about making something with your own hands (completely hand-made) then you’ll be choosing the right place. Ben is on hand at all times to show you how to do each part of the piece of furniture, you don’t need any previous experience as every detail is explained beautifully. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this course and furthermore will be going back to make something else! Good luck and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Gavin - (chair making course autumn 2018)"

"I was given vouchers for a 2 day course, Mark was brilliant, I had not touched wood since school (45 yrs) he was so patient, and explained everything in a way that I could understand. Mark is a passionate bloke regarding wood turning and a bit of the passion rubs off. I would highly recommend any one of any experience level to have Mark as an instructor. Thanks Mark"

Deb Mills reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"I wanted to make something special for my late husband’s ashes. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me doing this and to be honest my head was like treacle but with a lot of help and encouragement from Mark & Richard I’ve made the most beautiful box and I think he’d be proud of me. It was a lovely weekend and they give me a lot of support, the other 3 people doing the course were great too! I’d really recommend anyone to have a go, if I can do it anybody can. I wish I could post a picture of my fabulous box!"
