Our Fabulous Suffolk Silk Scarf Painting Workshops are perfect for beginners and those with experience alike. Your freestyle Creative Silk Scarf Painting Workshop day at The Arty Silkworm, is where you will be introduced to, and learn the ancient and wonderful art of Shibori, along with other beautiful decorative techniques. In a relaxed and comfortable environment in my 16th Century farmhouse, you will learn to mix professional silk dye colours, apply them freehand to create beautiful & unique works of wearable Art. The day is relaxed and structured and you will learn the techniques of folding, tying and wrapping, to produce amazing pattens on practice pieces and samplers. You will then create a beautiful, vibrant and luxurious silk scarf of size 114 cm x 28 cm to wear proudly and take home with you. There are a variety of sizes/shapes available. Your tutor will be Ruth Rutherford BA hons, a professional multi~skilled designer who will carefully demonstrate and guide you through each stage of the silk dying process. Ruth Rutherford BA hons is a multi skilled designer based in glorious rural Suffolk. Having gained a design degree and worked for many years in ceramic & glass organic design she has in recent years, transposed her love of colour, form and nature into the world of textiles. Ruth works with pure silk, she has developed an original style and technique that is unique to her. The results of which continue to be in demand in both the UK and Overseas. The workshops are a really great experience day, for you to have a go too!
