Gill reviewed: It’s only natural - creating small wire sculpture in Derbyshire

"Such a fantastic day for so many reasons. The Slipper Studio is such a beautiful setting to become creative with wire and to be encouraged and guided by Liz, who was so inspirational and fun to learn from. We all learnt so much and progressed throughout the day in a relaxed way and were thrilled to take away our creations. I would thoroughly recommend Liz and her courses, not forgetting her chocolate biscuits and Derbyshire tea! Thankyou so much Liz "

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Gill, I have a huge smile on my face. Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review - it’s very much appreciated. Jenny Shadforth reviewed: Peak Blacksmithing Experience days

"Absolutely fantastic day making a bottle opener with Jessica and Tim. I got to do all of the process myself so it is a real sense of achievement. Each step of the process was demonstrated in small chunks before going away to apply it and they were both on hand to help and to correct my technique if I was going wrong. Looking after our own forge fire for the day made it a complete "day in the life" experience. Peak Blacksmithing is a really lovely environment to have a go at a new skill and something I thoroughly recommend. "

Martin Douglas reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"Have just completed the two day box making course with Mark. It was a Xmas present from my sons, and I’ve been eagerly looking forward to attending. It didn’t disappoint, we were taken through all the steps to making our boxes, from choosing the style of box, picking the wood, cutting and assembling the parts before applying the surface finishes. Mark expertly guided us through each of the stages and how to safely use the various woodworking tools. The two days were extremely enjoyable and all the finished boxes came out really well. I was pleasantly surprised with what I was able to produce over the weekend and can highly recommend Mark’s courses."

Tamar A reviewed: Silk Painting a Scarf or Chinese fan: all welcome

"This was my first try at silk painting. Steph gave enough instruction and direction to teach the skills needed, while giving enough space for creative expression and fluidity, resulting in everyone making something entirely unique. I really enjoyed experimenting with different techniques and came away with a painting I’m proud enough to place on my wall! The location was stunning and the refreshments were great, a highly recommended afternoon of relaxation, skill-building and creative flow."

Strawberry Moon responded:

"Thank you, Tamar. I loved your piece and the vibrant colors you used. I hope that you can come again and we can try some more techniques. "

Pauline Fillery reviewed: Fused glass workshop - Plymouth

"Sheena was extremely friendly and welcoming. A group of 6 ladies enjoying a relaxed 3 hours of conversation, whilst creating fused glass pieces. Cake & drinks at half time. Sheena's craft shack was cozy and warm, with plenty of inspiration all around. The sun outside was illuminating her glasswork & there was plenty of it for inspiration. There was a choice of projects to create, along with Sheena's experience, help & guidance to teach technique and how glass fusing works. I will be back! Thank you for a lovely day."

If you are looking for a gift for someone or fancy a go yourself, we would thoroughly recommend this interesting, informative and creative experience, which is also tremendous value-for-money. Thank you again!"

"Thanks for an amazing review, Colin and Claire. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, being creative together, as your anniversary gift followed by a yummy meal in a lovely country pub. It was great to see you developing your own layout onto fabrics and they looked great. Claire what a lovely idea to create a softer texture for your yellow moon, it's really effective. I hope your friends enjoy the hand pulled gifts you made for them too. I hope to see you again in the future if you ever want to try a different craft with me. Take care :)"

Kate reviewed: Birds on a wire - creating small sculptures in Derbyshire

"I wanted to buy my two grown up daughters something different for Christmas, an experience where we could spend time together being mindful and creative, and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice of Liz’s bird on a wire workshop. The setting in Liz’s Carsington home is wonderful, a beautiful studio with inspiring art all around, and plenty of cups of tea and biscuits to get the creative juices flowing. Everything was set up so that we could get straight on and start learning the wire twisting process in order to make our three little birds. Liz was a great teacher, encouraging our ideas and supporting when we got stuck. We all enjoyed the mixture of practical work and creative design and there was just the right amount of relaxation and challenge. I highly recommend Liz’s workshops to anyone looking for a different kind of gift and a way to spend time with family and friends creating both art and memories!"

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:
