Lynne Horton reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"Had a fabulous 2 day course with the very talented Sophie, her expert tuition enabled me to produce a very lifelike border collie, which is going to be a gift for a friend if I can part with it. I would certainly recommend one of Sophie’s courses whether you are a beginner or just want to learn new skills."

All Things Felt & Beautiful responded:

"Thank you SO MUCH Lynne - I'm really pleased that you learned so much and I think your Collie is just wonderful! :)"

Jeremy Olsen reviewed: Beginners Upholstery Footstool Course

"I did the course after the footstool course, the sprung dining chair course. It was an 8 hour course, 1030-1830, and we needed all of that time under Sarah's careful and patient guidance. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we all enjoyed seeing our creations develop into very respectable pieces of work for beginners. Would love to do the 10-week course now! Highly recommended."

Alex Cullum reviewed: Stool making course at Sallerton Wood

"My main interest in this course was to use the tools and learn the skills of green wood working while spending time in the woods. These goals were met completely, but in addition it was a joy, spending time with such an engaged and experienced instructor as Andy. The woods are beautiful and have a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere as well as diverse vegetation and wildlife. The sound of the streams day and night really lift the vibrant life of the location. The working area is brilliantly constructed in keeping with the theme of the courses and very well equipped. The cooking area is totally relaxing, and Andy’s lunches are just what’s needed. The camping is more luxurious than just rough camping, the hot shower in the morning is a joy and being able to use the kitchen area makes it very comfortable and highly recommended. Being able to just stay in the woods for the length of the whole course added to the experience I was after. As for my product, a small stool with bark seat, before the course I had planned to give it away to in-laws rather than hassle my way home with it on two international flights. However, it is now proudly home with me and I can’t wait to make a shaving horse and have a go at another. Thank you Andy, it was an all round joy spending time in the woods with you. Overall summary: Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in wood and trees. Absolute top value for money. It could not have been better."

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thank you very much indeed for your very thorough and enthusiastic review, Alex. I'm sure that Andy will be looking forward very much to seeing you at Sallerton Wood again in the future and will be writing to you separately by email. Alan Morton"

Lenore Foran reviewed: Creating shadows and light in your collagraph prints, course in artists studio near York

"I loved this course; having day one to prepare the plates and day two to concentrate on printing suited me very well and kept me focussed. Emily’s teaching style is very relaxed and she is full of tips and ideas and she provided lots of positive feedback. Her studio is small (but perfectly formed), and because Emily is so organised we four students were able to work very comfortably in the studio space. Refreshments were provided. I have been attending printmaking classes for the last year and had a little experience with collagraphs but there was so much more to learn. I’ve come away from Emily’s 2 day course feeling much more confident and with lots of new ideas to try out. Thank you, Emily. Lenore"

Emily Harvey Printmaker responded:

"Thanks Lenore, hope to see you again soon1"

"A really enjoyable day!! Amanda was extremely patient and with her help I managed to make two lovely pieces to bring home - much better than I thought I could achieve on my first attempt. She is a really good teacher - seems to know when to let you have a go by yourself and just when to step in with a bit of guidance. Thank you!"

"Definitely one of the most relaxing and informative course I have been on. Set in the woodlandss near Logie Steading, this is the perfect location to appreciate the qualities of working with green wood. At the end of the course everyone left smiling and proudly clutching their new creations. Aaron's relaxed and evolving style makes this course suitable for anyone, whether experienced in woodwork or an avsolute beginner"

Ann Clough reviewed: Crafts in the Valley - Batik textile workshop in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire

"What a fabulous workshop! Had a wonderful day learning a new craft from a patient, knowledgeable and awesome tutor. Mel makes everything seem doable. From knowing nothing at the start of the day, to creating an end product that I am proud of is testament to her skill as a teacher. Most of all though is the sheer feeling of calm relaxation that Mel creates - her class really is a feast for the soul. Loved it!"

Jo Rogers reviewed: Learn to Crochet - Absolute Beginners class - East Grinstead

"Nicole is an excellent teacher and explains things really clearly. The mandala involves lots of different stitches so it takes a while but the pace is just right and Nicole gives lots of help and advice as we go along. A small group size means you get lots of individual attention. She also inspires us with the amazing crocheting she does herself! A really enjoyable way to spend a few hours and definitely worth the cost. Plus you get free tea and biscuits! Lovely!"

Clare Younger reviewed: Introduction to summer millinery - evenings - Newcastle NE1

"I took part in this course with no previous experience. I generally work at a slower pace craft wise but found the class really nicely run . A little sewing / scissors knowledge & some useful and some ironing skills I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in this craft which is quite specialised. I came away learning so much about millinery and appreciate all the skill and work that goes into each headpiece! Not just for race days and weddings lets bring hats back to fashion. A therapeutic craft and met another lovely lady as well! Margaret has patience of a saint x"

Margaret Woodliff Wright Millinery responded:

"Thank you Clare very much for your review - it was a pleasure teaching you how to make your headpiece, and I am delighted too with the finished piece. I will wait with interest some images of your complete outfit, as I know you will wow the other guests with your beautiful headpiece when you attend the wedding in September! We are also looking forward to our next millinery meet-up and I am now busy planning a follow on course for the next steps in your journey of millinery exploration. Thanks again for your enthusiasm - Margaret"

Ruthie reviewed: Crafts in the Valley - Batik textile workshop in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire

"Mel is a therapeutic art extraordinarie. I’ve attended a few of her workshops and the batik one really was the most amazing day. For someone who is constantly ‘in her head’ I found myself drifting off to a place of art tranquility all at the same time as learning a new skill and creating two wonderful pieces of art. Mel works with a small group but always finds space and time for you as individuals. She is patient, matches your learning needs to how she explains things to you and her environments are always so welcome. And there is ALWAYS cake. What more could you ask for. Thank you Mel for allowing me to have a little head holiday. It really was worth its weight in gold."

James reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"I would recommend taking the 2-day or 5-day courses to really give yourself the time needed to upgrade antique furniture. Having said that, the one day course is fully comprehensive, and teaches you how to turn your old furniture into something that you will be proud to show your friends and family. Oliver is a great teacher, all the materials are top quality (all mixed and prepared by Oliver), and the class sizes are small so you get more time to ask your own questions."

Diane reviewed: Try Enamel workshop - suitable for all abilities

"My friend and I spent the morning with Teresa two weeks ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole creative experience, including Teresa's relaxed, but expert, approach. As a total novice I felt inspired by what I could create, - and in a relatively short space of time ( just over 2 hours). Teresa was so encouraging of our own ideas, but readily gave advice on designs if we wanted this. We were equally thrilled by the pendants we each produced - which have attracted many positive comments from friends and family. Thank you so much Teresa for a wonderful morning, we will definitely be returning for another treat of an experience."

Ed Dunning reviewed: Axe or bladesmithing weekend workshop – 2 days making your choice of a seax, bushcraft, bowie or chef knife

"As an avid viewer of Forged in Fire or 'Bake Off for Blokes' as I call it, my sons got me the experience for my birthday. My eldest son and I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. Matt is such a good instructor, easy going and patient, his passion for his craft is so infectious. Expertly teaching all the techniques required, but at the same time he fully encourages you to be creative and add your own artistic flair. Ali kept us fuelled throughout, a big 5 stars for her homemade lemon drizzle cake. It was such a unique experience, made even better by our hosts. Would highly recommend it to one and all."
