Ally Gilbertson reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"What a fabulous day we had on Lucy’s Upholstery Workshop. A beautiful venue, a warm welcome & a cuppa and we were off. Ideas, materials & fabrics, tools and lots of expert advice we’re all readily available from Lucy. The day flew by and after a lunch of homemade soup & breads, we were all itching to crack on and we all achieved completed projects by the end of the day. Lucy was always there to guide us in a caring & creative way. And now we have all caught the ‘Lucy Renshaw creative bug’, we can’t wait to put our new skills into practice & to do more workshops with Lucy."

Stuart and Matt Wilson reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Just had a fantastic day with Mort. Absolute beginners he showed us “how” and then let us loose. It is great fun and very satisfying to be able to produce something (with Morts help) in one day. We came away with two small Viking “whistling” knives, one larger blade and also one piece of “jewellery” which definitely exceeded our expectations. Mort is a great guy, friendly, passionate about traditional methods and also full of interesting facts. We loved it and are already planning another trip."

Simon S reviewed: Pottery Throwing (Group Discounts Available) Lessons in Worcester

"I had two lessons with Chris as a birthday gift as i am a big fan of the pottery throwdown on TV! I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed both lessons and it has given me a real enthusiasm for pot throwing. Chris was very welcoming, easy to get on with, explained everything slowly and clearly and was very encouraging. I created some small pots and a mug on first lesson and some bowls on my second lesson. He glazed and fired my first pots for me so they were ready to take away on my second lesson which was great. I also had some tiles to take home and scraffitto which was good fun and my wife and kids had a go too! A really great experience with a patient and knowledgeable potter - highly recommended."

Jenny Wilks reviewed: Powertex fabric sculpture introduction session

"I really enjoyed this course. Despite arriving late Annette still guided me through the techniques required skilfully and I completed a dragonfly garden ornament during just a half day session. I was amazed at how it was possible to make something so presentable in such a short time and in a lovely purpose built room with lots of examples of Powertex creations for inspiration. I also came away with a basic Powertex kit for a reasonable price and am looking forward to make more outdoor ornaments. Thank you Annette."

Lisa Tomlinson reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"What a fantastic day - Lucy was so helpful and experienced. The venue was perfect, she had loads of tips and tricks. She has lots of materials and extras that helped us shape and create our upholstery projects. I so wish I could post a before and after picture of my blanket box. Lucy made us a perfect home cooked lunch and she fuelled us with home made scones and tea coming out of our ears all day. The best thing was we all had different projects and different levels of experience - and Lucy adapted her style to all of us. She was patient, knowledgeable, creative and had loads of tip, tricks and work arounds. I highly recommend the whole experience and one I am going to repeat."

Adrian Ede reviewed: Spray painting - furniture, doors, sculpture, metal, wood, masonry

"A good hands on course run in a well equipped workshop. David was very knowledgeable and able to describe plenty of practical examples of the different spraying techniques being addressed. He was happy to adapt the course content to meet my particular interests (HVLP) and was keen to understand exactly what I was looking to achieve from the course. I came away with a far better understanding of the subject and many tips on how to improve the quality of finishing on my home projects. I would thoroughly recommend the course to anyone interested in spray finishing be they a beginner or someone who just wants to improve."

"Thank you Mathew for a most enjoyable day. Your hospitality, patience and teaching skills with a true beginner was amazing and I produced pots I never thought possible. The studio and surroundings are truly delightful. The course was a 70th birthday present from my children and I couldn't have enjoined anything more. Anyone wishing to try the art of throwing won't find a better teacher than Mathew and it certainly will be a day to remember."

VJN reviewed: Weekend upholstery courses - Oxfordshire & Berkshire Borders

"Philip is a great tutor, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. He was very encouraging and inspirational. We were a group of ten with varying experience, all with very different pieces of furniture, covering a wide variety of upholstery techniques. There was ample opportunity to observe Philip helping each of us with our projects and hence we could learn about springs, webbing, pleating, button-making etc, regardless of whether our own project required it. Throughout the weekend, Philip expertly demonstrated and patiently explained the 'whys and why nots' and answered all the questions we could throw at him. He supplied all the tools needed and explained their functionality and safe use. It was a fun yet very informative and useful course, in a casual and friendly environment. Great value and a brilliant way to spend a weekend - go on one of these courses and you will leave feeling like you have a new Super Power!"
